I use the forum to procrastinate on my amvs :/ Also to pass the time. Right now I don't have a tv, so I can't play games or watch tv. If I had my tv, then I's be playing video games or sleeping.
Otherwise I use it to gather and trade information as well. If I was well informed about the forums when I first making amvs as I am now, then it'd probably turn out better, as well as my others. But yea, if the others don't want their vids announced, that's their loss . And if it's a good enough vid, I'm sure someone will pimp it in their sigs/journal, and if it's good enough, then recommend it in the recommendation thread. Or something...

It seems like the AMV Announcements forum is more for the people who have gained a certain level of noteriety for their previous AMVs, and have their own 'fans'.

Yeah I think the same way too. If there is not at least one post in the threat nobody is interessted in it. The first post is maybe luck, or from a fan or a friend of yours :?

Maybe. I use it anyways because how am I ever going to get a fan-base if I don't advertise? :D

I agree with someone above, that the people who don't use it probably either don't know about it or don't care. I didn't announce my first four vids, because I haven't been active on the forums until recently--I simply didn't know there was a place to announce new AMVs on here when I released them.

It just seems that way, since they're constantly "bumped." Plus it's AWA aftermath, where a buncha good stuff is usually announced that had produeced that "fanservice." Plus people like me usually look for the popular stuff, since it's popular then it should be good. Others that are n00bs, unfamiliar, and/or using overused sources are put into the second page pretty quickly. idk about anybody else but I just glance through the first page. and don't bother with the second, third, and such. I remember announcing once and it quickly went into the second page the next time i checked the next day.

really, most people who have vids on the org never use the forums.

no worries though, cause they usually suck anyways. the lowest ratings i've ever given were ones i randomly download from the new vids on the block link

Your fault! ^^'
Everytime I click to the "New vid on the block"-link I know with the name of the amv at least: wich anime or song is used...
And if I am not right... I see a song a know very good in the video profil.

More ideas for more people!

Burn ^^;;
Sometimes there is a new vid on the block that isn't so bad though o.O usually people who look at the file type automatically asume it was a WMM production if it is in wmv. A lot of times it's true, but I've seen people who use VirtualDubMod to get an avi production out of wmm, and some people who use good program (vegas 6.0, etc) and just use wmv file because they are lazy o.o

all great videos had to be new at some point, and editors had to be newbies at one point too. we all were, right o.O?

I don´t have my bandwith to see noob videos. Yeah of course when I am at school and have my 128 MB CF card with me (harharhar^^'), than I sometimes downlaod some new vids on the block.
Most time. I look into the forum or download vids from people I know and that I´m interessted in there works.

*shock*
wmv out of Vegas... that´s what I call AMV Hell!

You´re right... but not everybody has talent for making amvs. However it is a hobby and if you like it you should do it no matter if you have talent or not. Its the same with sports. Not everybody is a pro, but do it :P

Maybe give in the next time more new people i don´t know a chance.

Its good to check out videos by other creators too besides the more well know ones you see posting in the forums alot.
I often check out videos by creators i never heard of and i found some verry good videos too.
You shouldn't avoid a video just because its wmv. you can make some good videos in wmm and like Kikai said, other programs can export in wmv format too. ^^
