Im pretty sure hes making a joke on the title and our responses, because to the unaware observer it originally can be assumed that were talking about beastality. =P I think thats what hes getting at, correct me if I am wrong.

CardCaptor Sakura could be a good source; some of the cards are beast-like (such as the Thunder Card, a lightning element beast).

DiGi Charat (the original TV series) has a weird bear in it, debuting in the episode "What the Heck is it?!" and present in most if not every episode after.

I agree about CCS. Kero controls fire and Yue controls ice.

For insects, Nausicaa would be a good source too.

OK...oddly just remembered this one...

Not sure how apt you'd be to use it given the source (some people would be OK with it, others not as much) but what the Hell

Creatures that control lightning - King Bion from the Red Ribbon Army arc of Dragonball could work pretty well here. (Giant lizard that fires lightning from a set of antenna)
