There are videos that I love that are in no way original, they just do 'it' a lot better than the many videos before them.

Making a good video out of bad scenes is kind of difficult (and rather risky to attempt), but people manage to make bad videos out of good scenes all the time. We're all driving the same car, here, but we're going different places and have hugely varying skills for getting there.

Editors who use otherwise "throwaway scenes" to create good videos make me sit up and take notice, but so do editors who use good scenes to create good videos. It's all good in the end. :)

If i've said once i've said it a thousand times, go fine a anime that nobody knows about and make a video out of it. We need a lot more diversity in titles. Or at least stop using the same 10 animes over and over.

sometimes it is boring to see many times the same scenes, but if it fit to the song, i cant say anything against it.

Often I tyink it is coincidence and based on the scene itself it might hold more meaning than others as it was meant to.

Other shows however just suffer from not having a lot of source footage from which to pull so you see a lot of repeated scenes.

Though just once I would like to see a Haruhi AMV that doesn't use footage of the rock concert.

"Have we been trained to like certain elements of anime?"

I'm a little confused has to what this question addresses, but never the less interesting points have been made.

There's a little bit of truth in this: An example would be The End of Evangelion and the music videos that have been made using its source.

This video is clearly an example of what we've been talking about in this topic. The video justifies and shows the real meaning of The End of Evangelion more than The End of Evangelion did. In all respects, I think as editors, we're not only looking to make a source original, but we're also looking to make the source better.

Stay tuned for Takeout, then. :D

It'll have the distinction of using a song that's barely been touched around here. I'm still not sure why, but, OH WELL BETTER FOR ME!

I like anime that others [aka the unwashed masses] have a tendency to either pass over or are just uninformed...

Makes me feel more 'cultured' lol...

Don't get me wrong though, I can enjoy Bleach [when filler isn't shitty] and I like other larger series like Code Geass and whatnot...

But then there's anime that a LARGE group of people miss and they're epic, funny, or epicly funny... [sp?]

I'll say it, because it sometimes looks like it, but I wonder, do some sequences suffer rehash, simply because some editors merely take scenes out of other amvs and fail to do the grunt work of finding their own damn material the way the first person had to do?

I'm not accusing anyone, just mentioning it occasionally looks like it's being done.
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.
