I know that there are ways to detect songs in audio files. They often only need to hear 5 seconds of a song. I don´t think that the same thing is possible with video footage or at least it doesn´t seam to be "that easy". They probably have to watch the video first before they can do anything against it.

If you don´t put certain keywords into video description, tags and title than they probably don´t have an easy time to see copyright infringement :P
You can find me on YT under "Bauzi514". Subscribe to never miss my AMV releases. :amv:

Um... for me, fifth strike and the accounts go.

But YT marks the email address, not the account name, so if you've created multiple accounts with the same email, they all get banned.

There is a good amount of research in indexing / searching for audio files. Ultimately, putting stuff on Youtube (youtube from now on) implies using their servers, so they have the right to do whatever they want with your videos. First Amendment rights don't apply to your videos on Youtube, because that's Youtube's territory. Don't like it? Get your own server. Actually, thats why Animemusicvideos exist: youtube isn't good enough. Anyway, Youtube has the right (and should have the right) to cover their own ass and ban videos that they might get sued for.

As for the AMV case, the best we can really say is that it is unknown whether or not it is legal. It is one of those gray areas of law that has never been tested. My guess is that video footage would fall under fair use, while audio use is copyright infringement w/o consent of the author, but as I said, it is only a guess, and until a case is settled in the court of law, it is unlikely that we'll ever really know.

Fortunately, if you don't line up your morality with law, then the solution is simple. Hate Copyright law for what it is, and protest. Or at least, familiarize yourself with the issue and make your own opinion on it.

I already made a thread for this ages ago, but if it's owned by WMG, you might as well forget uploading it there. Anything else you can probably put it up, but any band owned by them is basically gone.

Yeah, it's happened to me before. Some companies are nice and just put ads on your page. :)

According to YouTube, even if you do put key words in the description they still can ban your video.

Yes, because Yuu'utsube TOTALLY existed back in 2000 or whenever it was that A-M-V.org was founded...

That happened to like 3 of my videos D: They only removed one from my channel...To prevent this from happening, put a opening song that is not licensed or change the name of your video so youtube won't notice =P Thats what I do sometimes

I used to have a IE page favorited that listed most or all the labels that were being bitchy (friggen HD wipes). Tythril (I think) or someone else posted it on some random thread I'm unable to find again.

I think it was more then that. Might of been some kind of program that let you put in a song name or artist and find out if they were with one of the labels that were known for being ass holes. In this case you could decide not to buy their music for this reason.

Wish I still had it.
