Re: question about sound
it's not that hard it's just very precise ie if you don't do it right you'll ruin everything.
also it makes your illegal amv slightly more illegal is all :/ most ppl don't care about this... until they try to enter it into a con.

...I ought to smack you upside the head. In case you failed to notice, it's 2009, not 1949, and "japs" is considered a racial slur. And I only call you on it because you had no comedic reason for doing so.Sonydjsnmix wrote:It's more of a M@D thing to do than AMV......

Re: question about sound
you can only use it to address rich jewish girls
(on a more serious note: its not really a rule, its just not politically correct.)

Re: question about sound
I don't really understand it though. I mean we use entire songs in AMVs, what's a little dialogue? Also, most, if not all, anime I buy come with both the japanese and english audio. Is the japanes audio US licensed also?BasharOfTheAges wrote:Actually quite a few cons do it at the request of the U.S. licensensors for IP-infringement related liability reasons.LittleAtari wrote:I must say that any contest that does is stupid, imo. I mean what makes it so different if it's Japanese or English?downwithpants wrote:doing that disqualifies your amvs in some anime convention contests, i believe (at least if you use english dubs).

Re: question about sound
most cons will have a DJ license for the dances and what not, and its assumed that the music played in amvs will be covered in that...
also the fact that anime licensing companies tend to sponsor the cons and keep their mouths shut about video infringement....
yea i think they have the right to ask that their audio is left out of videos :3

Re: question about sound
Cons pay for licenses to play the music they have in their AMV contests, dances, cosplay skits, karaoke rooms, etc. They also have lots of industry types and voice actors as guests - people that will be right the fuck there to raise a fuss about it after requesting that they do not do it.LittleAtari wrote:I don't really understand it though. Re: question about sound
I think it's partly the reason the anime license-ors aren't as hellbent on destroying us as the record labels are: a bunch of "random" clips thrown together with none of the original audio is not so blatant mis-use of copyright as an entire song would be. For the labels- download the AMV, you've basically downloaded the song. for the license companies- its free advertising. But if you start using the original audio, then you start asking "what's to keep them from just putting in a whole episode?"LittleAtari wrote:I don't really understand it though.
