Eh, I think holding him up to some sort of 'professionalism' is unreasonable (as a sociolinguist, I'd have a few things to say about the whole idea of 'professionalism' and editorial checkists ); but I think you guys are making enough fuss out of it for him to use the backlash in his own favour (i.e. for getting attention and 'scoring points').
Whether the audience considers him professional or not, law still applies.
