Whos established wisdom? Isn't mine. Do your thing, that's coming form someone who was here when this site started.

There is no way just a bunch of people who say its their way or the highway. And from topics like this i see it isn't so. That why despite all the crap i still post. Got to let guys like you know that not everything is set in these silly stone tablets that you have to follow or die.

's funny. using free software- good, using free media- VERY bad. I may make a video in Vdub, but it's the DVD's or CD's that cost me a few pennies. And if your not using DVDs or CDs as sources than your concidered a pirate, free media- bad.

I watch my old videos quite frequently.

Save for my first one which is absolute crap. Actually what I see is the evolution of my editing style. At which videos I expiramented with new techniques or styles that I incorporated into all my later works so I can see the evolution of it.

Alternatively I see where I tried new thigns that never worked and my abandoning of certain styles or types of videos because they just didn't work for me (i.e. making action videos or comedy videos that weren't inherently wrong).

That doesn't go to say my most recent work is always my best though, despite learnning and working with new techniques I prefer some of my older stuff distinctly over my current. I.e. I think my best drama video is still my Berserk - Shattered Dreams video from some years back.
