Sarcasm doesn't always translate well in text, especially when accompanied by someone claiming they're a cynical asshole.

Don't worry about ruining the "joke". Since many people sincerely feel what you expressed sarcastically, my points are still good.

I'm sure that's a very comforting assumption to you, but in many cases what it actually means is that the person has no interest in becoming good at making effect videos to begin with. And/or we simply entered the AMV scene during the old-school era and can still appreciate those videos even though styles have changed. Or it may simply mean that we don't need a Ritalin / Tenex cocktail to start our morning.

Arigatomina wrote: You actually enjoy your crap vids? Then you have bad taste and should keep it to yourself.
It's funny that you would make that statement right after the previous one, since it applies to effect-whores way more than anyone else.

Arigatomina wrote:It turned me into an asshole. I'm a little bitter.... I'm more cynical about...

I think I would have stayed nice and naive if I'd stayed off the forum. Now it's too late to go back.
You can still be nice while not being naive, it just takes more effort and a certain maturity which your new found cynicism hasn't granted you. What you've demonstrated is that becoming more cynical doesn't always mean that you've become more wise. It's not too late to go back either, but being an asshole is a lot easier I suppose.

Don't worry, 'mina, I hold the same sentiments. But it's just like Her said, old school ppl tend just not want to make effectsy videos. Not really cu they can't, they can you just gotta learn how, but it's just (mostly... there are exceptions) cuz they don't wanna learn how. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Heretick mina's not just talking about effects whores or new editors. You shouldn't take constructive comments in that light, as in 'oh she CAN"T be talking about me!!' It's stupid and selfish.

Anyway.

What the hell are you babbling about?

I took her comments literally when she was being sarcastic. That was my error, but I never implied that she couldn't be talking about me or anyone else for that matter.

Stupid and seflish is taking up forum space without having a point.

The Org has made me want to go buy more anime to make AMVs, *eagerly awaiting the release of the Full Metal Alchemist Season 1 Boxset*.

I've heard it come from her mouth so often that I don't think she was being 100% sarcastic. But if she wants to let her opinions end that way than fine but I stand by what I said, there is a difference between 'can' and 'may' and I don't think that was made clear. You said she wasn't talking about old-schoolers, I say she was. How can you miss that point? I thought it was very clear. Maybe she was being sarcastic when using the word 'can' but with the word 'may' in there you'd get the very statement many would have. 'I would put more effects and thus more synchronization into my amvs if I knew how -_- but I've already bothered to figure out how to make amvs and it wasn't easy to do before the guides, just don't wanna do that again!' It's a stigma but it's typical, you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

How's that for you, too cryptic, see my point?? Don't argue with your elders son, your being brash and rude to add on to your already shining record <.<

...

Yes. The org has changed me.

Every time I read a pissing match between forumites, I lose a a few more IQ points merely for being present.

I would say that it also me makes lose my faith in humanity in general or amv editors in specific, but that hit rock bottom years ago.

Oh so now you're assuming that she didn't really mean what she said? You see, when she tells me she was being sarcastic, I take her at her word. I don't come to forums to psycho-analyze people and to guess whether or not they really mean what they say. That would be a very stupid thing to do and a complete waste of time (I guess it works for some people though.)

Knowname wrote:You said she wasn't talking about old-schoolers, I say she was. How can you miss that point?
Ummm, no, I didn't. I gave my opinion in response to what I thought (at the time) was a serious post by her. Obviously since I thought it was a serious post, I did indeed think she was talking about old-schoolers. The real question is how is your reading comprehension so poor?

Knowname wrote:It's a stigma but it's typical, you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
You sure like that phrase don't you? Unfortunately it is completely wrong, especially in the context of this discussion. If I wanted to incorporate lots of effects in my videos I would simply download After Effects, spend a day with it and I'd be on my way. "Old dogs" can learn new tricks, but often times they simply have no DESIRE TO... which was my point to begin with.

Knowname wrote:How's that for you, too cryptic, see my point?? Don't argue with your elders son, your being brash and rude to add on to your already shining record <.<
No not cryptic at all and still completely pointless. Wait, so does you registering your a-m-v.org account 4 months before me way back in 2002 really make you my "elder"? Or are you actually a 50+ year old with an Evangelion icon? Either way, go take a nap gramps. You've been spewing out a lot of words but not saying much.

Kionon wrote:Every time I read a pissing match between forumites, I lose a a few more IQ points merely for being present.
Glad to be of service.

I don't like forum pissing matches either, but I have a hard time not responding when someone whose post I addressed says "omg my entire post was just one big piece of sarcasm, isn't it ironic?" and then some other fool jumps in to DEFEND HER HONOR or something even though he's not even sure if she was being serious or not.

In other words, this forum fails. You're losing IQ points for merely being here, and so am I.

x2 even though sadly enough I've had my moments. But I had probably been drinking  .
