That was the same thing for me when i built my current system. This was the first system I didn't take parts from another system in order to build. Usually use the hard drives and optical drives, maybe video card also. So it was a difference experience and much more exciting. Although, the price of the CPUs did leave me a little more on edge in hopes i didn't fuck anything up while building it.ngsilver wrote: This is perhaps the most fun I've ever had building a PC. I think the fact that I spent more then I usually do (my normal PC budget is $600) kind of helped in that. I'm hoping this box will work well for me for the next 3~5 years until I have enough bank to build my 4 processor rendering rig
It's been long enough, right? Let's see your editing rig.

Arise, thread!
As the number of PCs in my tiny room approaches absurdity (i.e. it's now up to 4), the actual editing tasks are in the process of migrating to that spiffy i7 laptop you can see on the far left :3

Re: It's been long enough, right? Let's see your editing rig
Well, this is my basic setup. It's not much, but I think it's comfortable.
Mac Pro
Mac OS X 10.6.6
2.8 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
16 GB DDR3 RAM
2x 1TB HD
DENON Hi-Fi Stereo Power Amplifier
Continuous Power 4ohms: 300W + 300W
Continuous Power 6ohms: 200W + 200W
Frequency Response: 1-300,000Hz
I party pretty hard sometimes with the speakers. The furthest I've ever turned up the amp from 1-10 was 5, and that's when the neighbors were about to call the cops on me.
