I thought it was a chick, if maybe an ugly one! Anyway, your editing was solid, although it took me a while to figure out exactly WHAT beats you were editing to. You went with the off-beats, which is cool, but it takes the viewer a minute to determine if it's really really good editing, or really really random scenes. Since I don't really know the character relationships, I don't know if the song is appropriate, but it seems to be well-chosen. I can't say much else about your video other than it is VERY well done, and thank you for suggesting it. (As a side note, "Remember" is one of my top ten favorite songs of all time, and you have done it justice.) Thanks! ^_^
thanks, I am glad that you liked my vid. Actually the pink haired person is a lady, I may of messed up my wording in the description to make it seem like I was talking as if she was a guy. lol. thanks again i am really glad you enjoyed my vid. :D

This Just In...

Post by pinky75910 » Sun Dec 26, 2004 11:40 am

Got a letter from my good buddy Joe from Afganistan! He's got some AMV Suggestions! I'll put them here as he has them.

1) Video - Brock (Pokemon) loves Kitsune (Love Hina) even though both are practically blind (Neither's eyes are truly visible)
Audio: For Your Eyes Only (a James Bond Song)

2) Mutsume Ohtome (Love Hina) and Hyatt (Excel Saga)'s habits of spontaneous "death" as the video. - The audio is "I'm Still Standing" (Elton John)

I only transcribe them for him - I take no responsibility for their content or viability, but any comments, I'll fwd to him in my next letter!
Making an amv, is rather like being the director of a Broadway show, where you have a million dancers and each of them only knows one step.

See? There I am, all inspired and stuff. Anyway, I know it wasn't a direct challenge, but I did have a whole lot of fun making it and I just wanted to say thanks. :)

Eeek! Just a quick note to say that I have not forgotten about this thread. I've just spent a lot of time posting on other people's threads. Yes, it takes me a while to type up these things, cuz I put a lot of thought into them, and they tend to be long (as I'm sure you've all noticed.) So, I'm short on time at the moment, and I just wanted to mention that I'm still here. In particular, I wanted to make this note for Coffee 54's sake, who really deserves my attention for such a cool and unique video. I'll get back to you later, okies?

Until then, Farewell, Good Luck, and Happy AMV-ing!

Wow, what a small world, My newest vid also mostly inspired by this thread:

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=58328

Its a Ruouni Kenshin video, but I like to think of it as original as it features one of lesser shown characters Anji, the Destroyer. And it uses a song never used before, but the band is moderatley used. I used Finding Myself by Smile Empty Soul. I have always wantd to do an Anji vid, and this thread gave me that extra boost to actually do it.

props to you, dj_ultima_the_great :D

Simple and clean is the way...

Post by dj_ultima_the_great » Wed Jan 05, 2005 11:43 am

Let's face it: I'm a windbag, so let's skip the intro, okies?

Coffee54 - ah, Gundam...something I've always had a mild interest in. In fact, I did read the three manga set of one its incarnations. They were boring, but my best friend assured me that the anime was MUCH better. I haven't seen that yet, or the incarnation of Gundam that you have done your video to. Anywho, your video was amazing. I really loved it. The music choice was off the wall, but you did great with it. It gave the video a kind of wild, primitive (in a good way) kind of a feeling. The music even matched the environmental setting of the video, which was pretty cool if you ask me - then again, I really enjoy that sort of music. Come to think of it, if you LIKE that song, you'd probably like "Navras" from The Matrix: Reloaded soundtrack. It's like a freaky techno version of the song you used. I would really love to see a good "Navras" video. I even made a lengthy suggestion for it some time ago. Hey, I'm kind of getting off track here. This is supposed to be about your awesome video, right? ^_~ Enough about the music - the editing was what really got me. To match the weird (but good) music, you had some weird (but good) editing. I don't know what really to say ABOUT it, honestly, other than it was perfect for the mood you were trying to set. Well, I've rambled long enough to you, so I'll quit here with a 'thank you' and a 'great job.' Oh! Just one last question: why so many DBZ (and co.) videos?

Kaiba57 - you know, you have a really cool style of editing. While most people would go for the major beats in a song, you go for all of the background beats, as well as the major ones. Do you do that in all of your videos? Cuz that's twice now that I've watched a video of yours edited in that style. Also, I liked your video because it wasn't effect-heavy. Don't get me wrong; I think videos like Koopiskeva's "Euphoria" are pure genius - I just get sick of seeing that sometimes. I like to know that a person, such as you, can do some really good, clean editing. (If I remember correctly, a certain SarahtheBoring edits her videos beautifully without lots of distracting effects too. ^_^ ) Again, I can't say that I'm familiar with the anime, although I have heard of it (who hasn't...) Actually, it was one that my best friend was interested in seeing. Anyway, your video was great overall. On my scale, it would probably get a nine out of ten. Thank you for submitting it! I enjoyed it!

Coffee54 (again!) - hey, I went into your profile and noticed that you've used some stuff from The Matrix: Reloaded soundtrack. So you probably know "Navras," right...? *winkwinknudgenudge* Nah, I'd never badger anyone into making a video to a particular song if they didn't want to, but it's a thought. ^_^

Oh, and to the both of you, thanks for mentioning me and my thread here in your video descriptions. I feel loved! ^_~ Like I've mentioned a number of times, I seriously wasn't expecting people to take my thread seriously. It was my first time posting anywhere, ever - this was long before I knew of forum searches and whatnot. I'm just amazed that no one had made a wide-scale AMV suggestion like this before. Just because I think it needs to be said occasionally, thank you to everyone who posts here, especially when they leave a video link! It's nice to know that there are nice people who are interested in these little thoughts and ideas of mine. Now that I've got that touchy-feely stuff out of my system...

Speaking of little thoughts and ideas, I have suggestions! Oh, yes, you knew I couldn't go without them! Also...

WARNING! SOME OF THESE IDEAS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM THE SERIES, SO IF YOU SEE AN ANIME YOU DON'T KNOW HERE AND DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN AS IF KISA WAS IN HER TIGER FORM CHASING AFTER YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fruits Basket, Love Hina - Shawn Mullins – “Lullaby” – Kisa, Shinobu – you know what I just realized? Kisa and Shinobu are, like, identical! Generally, this song works for them I think. Being really nitpicky, however, I know that the first verse doesn’t apply to them as well as I’d like. I’ve been looking for a while now for a good anime for this. It’s weird, though - I’m not a particularly big fan of this song (it’s alright...,) but I’ve become hell-bent on finding a good video idea for it! Weird, right? Anyway, the song is pretty self-explanatory, so I won’t go into a direction for the video – it’s fairly obvious.

X TV - Nine Inch Nails – “The Great Below” – Kotori, Hinoto, Kanoe, Kakyou – to me, this feels like a song about accepting one’s fate, even though it will lead to ruin. Sound like a certain Dreamgazer-in-training? Yeah, I thought of a darker side to Kotori when I heard this song (actually, I thought of Lain first, but that’s another story.) The video would be about how she was willing to sacrifice everything for Kamui and Fuma. Of course, this plotline is explored better in the manga, I think, but I believe that there would be enough footage for an AMV. Finally, for those of you curious why I mentioned the other Dreamgazers, I see them as sort a support device for the video – especially in the end, where the lyrics keep repeating “I can still feel you, even so far away.” In essence, they all still dream of Kotori after her ‘departure’ (well, not Kanoe as much, but you get the gist.) For the whole series, references are made to her, even after the fact. Kotori’s not my favorite character by any means, but this would be a great tribute to the darker side of her, I think.

As always, Farewell, Good Luck, and Happy AMV-ing!

PS: it's amazing. I have no AMVs in the works right now. Oh well. That'll change soon with the beginning of my Anime Compilation Project.

CRAP!!

Ack! Disregard what I said about "Navras." It's from Revolutions, not Reloaded. I don't know what I was thinking. Der.

Thank you very much for the wonderful comments on my vid  (I'm Blushing). Navras eh, I love that song, and as a matter of fact I've got a number of project I'm kicking around in need of some music. Thanks for the suggestion.

My early days, pre-.org, I still enjoy working with DBZ when I get the chance, though now I try to limit myself to the DVDs for quality reasons, that really cuts into the amount of usable source footage I have.

Sorry, folks. I guess the reason I've been so lazy lately with this thread is cuz I'm not really sure what to say. I've already spent all of my general ideas for making this thread better and more accommodating. While I am thankful for the many replies (and especially the videos,) I just feel as if it isn't enough. Not on any of your parts, of course - whatever could be going wrong is my doing, I know.

Umm...I wanted to do something...although I wish it was on the first page of the thread, so newcomers could see it. I thought it might be nice to repost the anime list (of one's that I've seen, anyway.) I've seen a few new anime since I started this thread, and I forgot a few to begin with. Also, I made those revisions, so I just wanted to have it all compiled into one spot again. So...here's the list (again.)

Ah! My Goddess - NO Belldandy or Keiichi

Ai no Kusabi - NO Riki

Angel Sanctuary - NO Setsuna or Sara

Angelic Layer - NO Angels or ANY of their battles

Blood The Last Vampire - NO Saya (I know that this will be difficult, but I'd like to see someone's efforts to accomplish this end)

Chobits - NO Chi or Hideki

Cowboy Bebop - NO Spike

Excel Saga - NO Excel

FAKE - NO Randy (Ryo) or Dee

Fruits Basket - NO Tohru or Yuki or Kyou

Gravitation - NO Shuichi or Yuki

Kare Kano - NO Miyazawa or Arima

Love Hina (or Love Hina Again) - NO Narusegawa or Keitaro

Neon Genesis Evangelion - NO Shinji or Asuka or ANY Evangelion battles

Noir - NO Kirika or Mireille or ANY gunfights

Pokemon - NO Ash or ANY Pokemon

SaiKano - NO Chise or Shuji

Serial Experiments Lain - NO Lain

Spirited Away - NO Chihiro (Sen)

Tokyo Babylon - NO Subaru, UNLESS the video is in conjunction with X

Trigun - NO Vash

X (the movie or the series) - NO Kamui or Fuma

Yami no Matsuei - NO Tsuzuki or Hisoka

Yu-Gi-Oh! - NO Yami or ANY of the Duel Monsters

I don't really have much else to offer. Not even suggestions (I ran out...again.) That being the case, I'm just going to leave with a response.

Coffee54 - seriously, your video was great. I even showed it to my best friend (who has seen that incarnation of the series) and she gave it her seal of approval, too. Also, that'd be really cool if you did decide to use "Navras" in something. Oh, and I'm not one of those people who hates DBZ just to hate it. I can honestly say that I have watched quite a few episodes, and didn't like any of them. Although, I do think that people like you, who aren't afraid to go out and make more videos to that anime, are really great. Especially considering that your videos rock. Besides, what most people seem to take into account is that even if there are no original concepts left, there are always new twists on the old ones - or improvements on them, for that matter. I'm sure, somewhere out there, that there's a good Linkin Ball Z video. Not a doubt in my mind. ^_^

Well, thanks for tuning in to a dying thread. Maybe this list will kick-start some motivation. I hope so, anyway.

It wouldn't be complete without: "Farewell, Good Luck, and Happy AMV-ing!"
