Or, as I have previously said: PLEASE DO NOT USE DOWNLOADED FOOTAGE.gwestrate wrote:Ok this is gonna be a rant!!!!!!.......Please folks go into your divx codecs settings and uncheck the watermark box....PLEASE!!!! there are some good AMVs being made and the mark just screws up the whole thing!!!!!!!!!!!......ok now i can breath....hehe.....sorry for the rant but it really ruins a good vid....Or makes a semi good one piss poor!
There is never any reason to be editing with video encoded in the DivX codec (or any fourcc codec period). You should be editing as losslessly as possible. Just do that and you won't have to worry about any watermarks you aren't intending to use as a feature.

This can also happen if your ripping the footage in the wrong codec and not doing it lossley as Kionon has stated.Kionon wrote:Or, as I have previously said: PLEASE DO NOT USE DOWNLOADED FOOTAGE.gwestrate wrote:Ok this is gonna be a rant!!!!!!.......Please folks go into your divx codecs settings and uncheck the watermark box....PLEASE!!!! there are some good AMVs being made and the mark just screws up the whole thing!!!!!!!!!!!......ok now i can breath....hehe.....sorry for the rant but it really ruins a good vid....Or makes a semi good one piss poor!

No offense, gwestrate, but I need to correct your inaccuracies. Since this is a help sticky, I don't want interested parties becoming confused. I hope you don't take it personally.gwestrate wrote:This can also happen if your ripping the footage in the wrong codec and not doing it lossley as Kionon has stated.
If you are following the directions I wrote in the original post, then it will be impossible to "rip the footage in the wrong codec." If you use dvd decryptor or Mac the Ripper, you will not be using a compression codec at all. Rather, you will simply be transfering .vob (mpeg-2) files from your DVD source to your harddrive. While it is true that some programs, especially those that have titles like DVD2DIVX etc do exist, I must stress that you do not use them to rip. Use only DVD Decryptor or Mac the Ripper. There are other options out there, but I recommend these for most, if not all, editors.
Furthermore, you should not have ripping programs adding watermarks of any sort. Again, if this is happening, you are not using either of the programs I have recommended, and frankly, probably have a pretty shitty peice of software you would do well to dispense with as soon as you can double click "add/remove programs."
Finally, it is from avs files that you should be creating your lossless copies, that way you have control over the quality of the footage even before editing. I don't recommend creating lossless copies directly from the .vob files even if ripped, and I certainly wouldn't suggest doing it straight from the DVD disc itself.

greetings to all the regs here, and i apologize if this is a previously asked question, but i will be brief:
i ripped the dvd's for negima according to the directions given out in several guides, and dvd decryptor seemed satisfied it did the job just fine. i have all the files ready and waiting...
however, i have noticed a problem with the files: during certain sections of the video file, the animation will double-play itself. what i mean is, imagine for a moment if my above sentence had read as follows:
the odd part is that it only happens for certain sections or scenes in the rip. other sections are perfectly fine. it seems to be at random which scenes work and which scenes don't, but the problem is located to certain scenes; meaning, it begins happening and stops happening at scene switches. also, the problem is not only with the .vob files, but with all compressed files i make based off that .vob.
any advice on this matter, or at least a link in the right direction?
if there is any more information you would like me to give you on this, please just say so.

sounds like multiple angles.
sometimes dvd's will have more than one "layer" of video, and when you rip it you get both of them.
this shouldn't happen if you rip your dvd's using IFO mode (in dvd decrypter).
if you did use ifo mode, then it's probably just that your computer can't handle all of that video information at once
