Old School editing vs seizuretiffic and effects

There for me also good videos in old school style and effect videos.
If the effects are good choosen, there speaks nothing against the video. But i dont like videos with many effects which dont push the atmosphere of the video and make nonsense in the AMV only for eyecandy.
Ok that is for the moment what i want to say.

Usually when i watch a vid these days i like too see things that i've never seen before. And kewl effects usually do that for me.
But if the sync is really kewl and creative that thats gewd also.
As long as its diffrent and catchy i really dont care =P

personally at the moment i dont see any redeeming qualities in the editing styles used in AMVs so i can't really choose a preference when im looking for things to watch. I also dont think i have ever left a comment telling someone to use effects - just the opposite :p.

Time and sync. That is the most important thing to me. You don't need effects to do it just as long as its done right. Time and sync can have a desired effect it its own right.

All though when done well and properly timed (like I said generally above), a few effects can really add to your video.

IMHO of coarse.

Even though I hate effects,I must agree with him. Lately there've been many vids where I don't notice effects at first sight. So I tend to re-watch same new vid for a few times in a row,just to notice its effects. Actually,I don't mind if there are effects that look as if footage was like that to begin with. But,when effects are just for show off (if there's no real need for them),then I'll most likely just delete that vid.

In other words : it depends on what kind of vid is - if it's romance,sentimental video,then there's no real need for effects,and can be done very neat even without any effects at all. If a video is action,fast paced - then effects might be need,but instead of effects and flashes,editor could use more internal sync,and sync up the footage...

I agree,sometimes effects make video look pretier,but that happens not everytime...

I know that maybe I'm just retelling what's been said in this thread many times already,but as I said earlier in this thread,it's just my opinion about it.
