either way I dont really think gender has much to do with good videos...

i like some videos made by chicks cause sometimes they are willing to make videos that guys wont... and if a guy does try to hit that type of video its usually 1. to make fun of the genre,

or 2. they happen to enjoy the preference... *ahem*

so, i think that this topic pretty much applies to fanservice videos... most guys wont make fanservice for girls, but will make the bouncy things they like to see... and most girls will make the fanservice they like to see...

I much perfer fanservice videos made by girls... *ahem*

but when it comes to general videos I think both genders have a shot at "better" as i said earlier in the thread, most of the people on this site that I look up to are guys.. but they have also been around for a while, there are fewer girls that have been around for a while, so its harder to say the same about girls..

also i suppose the "girls make more crappy videos" can be attributed to the fact I avoid LinkinballZ (and similar) like the plague, so I havent exposed myself to the redundancy that guys sometimes put out.. instead ive been exposed to the redundancy that girls put out....

but i think both genders share equally ratio-wise when it comes to good and crappy videos.

Probably true, if someone could be bothered to compile the statistics (methodology issues aside).

There is a clear skew in the forum-going and con-going portions of the AMV community, though. This is blindingly obvious. Less obvious is the cause, which I'm going to say is probably two-fold. First, the level of anime fandom that is requisite and second, the technical skill and aptitude that are similarly requisite. Both seem to be more common among males.

Thus, population skew. Combine this with a bad sample, and you get odd biases about what kind of editor makes the "best" video.

Im just getting started on making amvs and the main hurdle to producing lots of them is that its hard to find time to get my butt in front of the computer during the semester, but during the summer breaks, I seem to get two or three done and if I try to make more than that they seem bland and stale like I wasn't really trying.

I don't really think gender has anything to do with it.
That's like saying Asians are the best action cartoonists while watching weekday Adult Swim.

The census isn't great enough nor defined to make a gender-bias.

Everyone can make a great amv with lots of effort and good idea.
The good female amv makers are really less than the male.
But maybe there's some discrimination flowing dunno..

there are good male editors like a few who pop in my head(jade_eyed_angel, koopiskeva, scoobINSMDBZ, michele)

ps: those are just a few good editors there are lots of good editors, if I didnt put your name dont be mad
