Well I was at AX and I was at the AMV panel (but left early) and contest (both -_-" )and I met panda there, and talked to him. I also noticed a how egotisical some of the other AMV creators were (and some very humble ones), and even on these boards leading up to AX, stuff like "None of my videos were finalists, and I don't know many of these names on the finalist list (including mine) Something fishy is going on". So I think to myself being a newbie and all, well who the hell are you ppl? and why are you so special? Or at the contest complaining about other ppls vids, and then complaining that their vid didn't get much applause, because the aud. just didn't get it. Or a general cocky attitude while giving a acceptance speech.

I myself could make a list (although alot would be just faces), but I won't because I wouldn't want to completly judge them right away, and have them hold a grudge against me (I'm sure panda thinks the same way, and is making general statements for ppl to stop and think if they have a attitude, and is trying to reason with the reasonable, not flame them directly which would just upset them and lose any means of reasoning with them). I'd rather give them a second chance, till I actually sit down and talk to them as I will probably be at further events they might attend.

Panda and I just might have got the wrong impressions, or maybe they really are just full of themselves, but I'm not willing to attack them on these impersonal boards so we can see a flame war.

Well, I wasn't at AX so I can't really comment on the behaviour of other creators but in regards to the whole "my video wasnt in the list" thing, there were some very clear mistakes in the AX finalists such as Vlad's video Transcending Love which has gone on to win awards at both Otakon and AWA Pro but never even made it into the top 10 for drama at AX.

There's some other videos but thats the one that stands out the most.

Sorry, to clarify I'm not trying to say Vlad's video was better than the ones that were in, I havent seen all the drama qualifiers for AX - but it did seem strange that a video that was so massively well received elsewhere didnt even get a look in at AX.

well I don't know anything about that, I'll have to check that vid out, but I also noticed ones that got minor applause as AX finalists went on to win at otakon in their respective catergories. So sometimes every aud. is different (or full of friends hehe), I'm sure it would be pretty different over there in the Uk too :P

Our avatars should dance together hehe.

hmm, well on a sidenote that vid has city hunter, and I remember going to Hojo's (the creator) signing (as my friend was Hojo's superfan) and they announced that he won't sign any bootleg, taiwan/HK. stuff. That might be standard for all signings, I'm not sure, or perhaps he has a peticular grudge against them. And Raijin comics being being a big supporter of the con, perhaps they wanted to play it safe and not show a city hunter AMV.

Quite honestly I didn't really have a big problem with it. Yes, I was kind of shocked at the beginning but I always try to make it a point never to complain or really say anything bad since I din't know who the judges were or what methods they used to judge the video.

Acutally, I was happy not to have the video shown there considering all the problems. They (The AMV contest directors) did ask me to re-enter the video next year, that I kind of found a bit insulting since I feel that re-entering a year later is kind of saying "we made a mistake"....

In terms of this whole thread thing, Since the AMV community has grown quite large, you will always find all sorts of individuals who make up the AMV creator community. I really don't have any problems with anyone I've met even those that don't come across in a good way on these forms...

I really think that instead of pointing fingers and trying to analize peoples attitudes, we learn to deal with each and every person here.... There will always be those with attitudes (as anywhere else in life) and it's a matter of learning to deal with them in a positive manner....

I didn't have a problem with the AX videos chosen that much, there were only one or two videos taht I really wondered why they made it into the top thirty. And I consider the editors present at AX to be pretty well behaved considering the events that occured while we were there. Yes there are conceded people but they exist eveywhere and you really just have to learn to deal with it. My videos didn't make it but I don't really care, like I said there are other cons. I think just some personalities in the AMV world stand out more than others (if not just for how long they have been around or the amount of awards they have one) but I don't by any means think that it's made someone overly cocky.
