I don't know what sort of info you're looking for if it's to write a report, but a good program for PS1 games is PSxMC247 - do a google search or two and you'll find that, some sites also tell how to work it, but it's pretty self explanatory. As long as you have a cd-rom, you can use that program to get cg clips from a game disc. For PS2 games...you'd have to check the 'Software Help' section - do a search, I know it's been asked a few times over there so the threads should still be up if you look for them. ^_^;;

In that case, just read the guides:

They'll tell you most everything you need to know - particularly the 'All Things Audio and Video' guide. ^_^

Okay, for a list of programs frequently used, go down to the 'Software Help' section - there should be a bold 'sticky' thread telling various programs.

For new vids, go to the 'Member Main' page and on the bottom left click the 'search vids' link. Do a super search and choose 'by upload date' to get the newest ones. Since you're new you won't be able to download local vids (unless you donate) for 2 weeks. So you should probably limit your super search to 'downloadable' so you get the direct and indirect links.

As for the 'dumb questions' - not that they're dumb, just that they get asked a lot and people tend to get fussy about answering them more than twice. Next time use the 'search' button at the top of the forum and try looking up your questions (using key phrases) in the 'help' sections of the forum. You can usually find your own answers and not have to deal with short-tempered people. ^.~

as for why your videos look blurry in windows media player, but not in the preview box: this happens because the preview box shows the original video file. when you play the video you've made with windows media player, it doesn't show the original video file. rather, it shows a file that windows movie maker has created. however, windows movie maker cannot create the video file with the same clarity as the original video file, since it's trying to save your hard drive space. if you want to get a clearer video out of windows movie maker, when you click "save movie as..." and it brings up a window that looks like this, choose a compression with a high bitrate (something between 1.0 and 2.1 Mbps). it will still not be as clear as the original video file, but it should be better.

I think that this part isn't really good advice. WMV makes a huge file so much smaller in size. You can decide how many k bits/sec you want, so WMV is actually an excellent source for making Music Videos. Windows Movie Maker 2 is recommended highly!!

You can make a really small MPEG-1 or DivX/XviD AVI, too, but they won't look good. However, a WMV at the same tiny size will look even worse. While it's true that the WMV9 codec is a lot better than the older WMV codecs, it still doesn't give as good compression as XviD, as far as I've seen.

And by the way, you can also specify what bitrate you want with DivX/XviD and MPEG (at least with TMPGEnc).
