It would be nice. Which is why you'd want it. People would use it. A lot of them maybe. It just takes a few vocal people to go viral and the spotlight moves from youtube to here once people fill their comment pages with a better site to go to after all the takedown requests decimate things. It's a risk we have to see if we want to take or not.JaddziaDax wrote:but we already have the spotlight free for anyone to view O.o and as for downloading, sure you should sign up to do that... but it would be nice if the previews were free for anyone to view...

You think the org could not only be as successful as youtube, but even MORE successful than youtube. Somehow I doubt Google will ever be cutting Phade a check for 1.65 billion to buy the org.BasharOfTheAges wrote:It would be nice. Which is why you'd want it. People would use it. A lot of them maybe. You're putting words in my mouth. I never suggested such a thing. There's nothing stopping the RIAA or the labels themselves from waging war on multiple fronts. They've been doing it for years just fine. Any attention is greater than the zero they seem to pay us now. And if past responces are any indication, it wouldn't take a hell of a lot to bring local down pretty hard - A couple of letters, really. Youtube has enough clout to make DMCA filings have to happen for every single video uploaded over and over again. We've dropped several thousand with a single request - not even a formal DMCA request. It'd be trivial. They could get an intern to do it while making coffee.godix wrote:You think the org could not only be as successful as youtube, but even MORE successful than youtube. I'm not trying to seem :tinfoil: - just pointing out the potential consequences. You'd weigh them in any decision like the one being suggested.

Re: AMV sharing
Don't donators already have the option of embedding their previews on external websites for everyone to see?
