Re: How long have you edited...
I couldn't say. I've spent all day focusing on a video before, but I'm pretty bad at keeping track of time. Maybe about 4 hours?

Well, not exactly like: all the days of the year focused in the same video, but took me so much to finish it.Taite wrote:I'm guessing this wasn't all in one go?TritioAFB wrote:2 years for a video

Right, they're talking about how much time have you spent working on a video in one sitting without doing something else Hence why everyone else is posting hours and not years. lol xD

I put in two 15 hour days the weekend before the AWA deadline this year to finish my Pro entry. I neglected to even eat properly those days. Paid for it by not feeling well the next week.

22 hours in one sitting. Best part is that it wasn't worth it in the end.

If you put it that way, then the longest was 37 hours. Yes, I didn't sleep, and the funny thing is that I still had to mask after cutting the clips and mixingRadical_Yue wrote:Right, they're talking about how much time have you spent working on a video in one sitting without doing something else Hence why everyone else is posting hours and not years. lol xD

I'm not sure, maybe 4-5 hours in one go.

Re: How long have you edited...
I'm a very slow editor so I could spend a few hours on something stupidly miniscule. After reading alot of the comments on this thread, I'm glad I stopped learning more about FX than what I already know because there's no way I'd be willing to dedicate that much time to an AMV. The longest I've ever sat down and edited was 10 hours and that was the result of a practice IC video. The most amount of time I've actually spent on an amv (overall editing time) is usually on trailers where most of the FX knowledge that I have is put to work, sometimes requiring me to learn something for an idea I have but there are still things I'm not willing to learn due to the reasons above. I think the most I've actually spent on a video hour wise is probably close to a full weeks worth of nothing but editing spread out over the course of like 4 months.
I don't know how you people do it, I like this hobby but I don't have that kind of patience to focus my attention on a monitor for that long without decent sized breaks.

I'm very slow too...in one go, probably 10-12 hours was my max. I have a lot of back/neck problems, so I physically can't handle editing for long stretches of time. Three or four hours is my normal limit before I start to relate most uncomfortably to "no pain, no gain."

In one sitting you say? Probably about 16 before a deadline.
