As I found recently when I tried to make an action video, after actually becoming experienced at AMV making I have become unable to make non-dramatic videos. I tried to make a pure action vid. It was really great, had all sorts of action in it, pure intensity. Then when I'm finished I look back and I realize that practically unconciously, I turned it into a Drama video.
Well S@#%.
So I guess I'm best at Drama/Sentimental videos. Aside from my experimental category-busting vids (SoaA, I Pray, and a couple others not yet released or finished) almost all my videos have some sort of dramatic element in them.
But as for what I enjoy editing the most? That's a tough question.
It's not so much a specific genre as a situation. When I'm making a video, and my concept is fleshed out enough and I'm familiar enough with the source footage that everything just seems to work just how I envision it, that's when I have the most fun. Usually this will occur about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way through a video, where things will just start clicking and I'll be like "YES! This isn't CRAP!" That's the most fun editing for me. Occaisionally around the 3/4 mark things will start getting difficult again, or sometimes I will finish a video simply coasting into the finish line with relative ease because I've just got my editing groove on.
The most fun video I ever edited was probably Cowboy Blues because once I got past the initial hurdle of fixing my concept to be something that wasn't utter horse manure the video just clicked and I churned through the whole thing feeling my video mojo getting down with its bad self.
I'm starting to sound like Tycho in his Pennyarcade rants.
