A couple of my fave reviews were posted outside the Org's database. One was mexicanjunior's Random Variable review of "Sakura". Another was MCWagner's comments (via private email) about the AWA 8 Master's contest.
The most influential ones were probably the trash reviews dropped on my "Marina" vid - influential in the sense of "Thanks, I needed that!" On the one hand, they reminded me never to take an audience reaction seriously, for good or bad. On the other, I've personally downgraded the Otakon contest. Which is not to criticize the contest, but simply to say that if I have a choice between entering Otakon or any of a half dozen other contests, Otakon goes to the bottom of the list.

This review on my first video, "Spike...". The Bad and General sections hurt like hell at first, then once I got over it I saw his point and I think it really helped me to improve.
---
Good Good editing, nice effort. You have obvious skill in editing, capturing, etc.
Bad Horribly unoriginal. There is an AMV on this very website called Spike's Requiem (to Out of Body Experience by Rabbit in the Moon) that does not only use pretty much the exact same scenes, but syncs better too.
General You're talented, but this video completely lacks originality. While I was watching it, I couldn't help but compare it to the aforementioned Rabbit in the Moon video. I remember a quote by Roger Ebert about Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs: "Now that we know Quentin Tarantino can make a movie like "Reservoir Dogs," it's time for him to move on and make a better one."

I don't even know who this person is or if they're still here, but my first two videos both got reviews from digital_dojo that were really good. Medium in length, but rather than screaming "dear god, you suck like a two-dollar whore!" as most anyone would, they pointed out what needed to be fixed and gave suggestions about how to improve. It was a good balance between noting what few things HAD been done right, and giving details about what went wrong (rather than "you suck, never do this again" as I see on other people's reviews).
Now, the videos still sucked, but hearing some constructive ideas for improvement right out of the gate was very encouraging. And even if I still suck, I've come at least some distance from then because of this sort of thing.
So thank you. *lights lighter*
