ok ive got a similar delema here...
Ive got a pretty decent invader zim video, and a friend of mine just offered me space on his FTP server, so i could have the video be hosted....
I know its not anime, I know that i can indirectly link it, but i know that if I do, I won't be able to be considered for anything "People's Choice"...
so my question is, if I post a non-anime video, and have it linked and NOT uploaded, will they still want to delete that?
And i have a similar question to the first one in the thread... Does anyone know of like a similar site to AMV's.org that will host non anime (but still animated) amv's?

The simple solution to this, if you want people to view it and still qualify for People's Choice would be not to add it to the index but announce it and post the link in AMV Announcements. I don't know of similar hosting sites for non anime videos. It's probably because there aren't enough fan made music videos that aren't anime to warrant going through the trouble to set up such a thing.TheRealLefty wrote:ok ive got a similar delema here...

Hmm, nope I didn't know thatOzzieArcane wrote:You do realize that live action videos are against the rules correct? You just gave away the fact that you have 3 videos for the mods to remove.Zenion wrote:If you shouldn't have noticed I want to tell you that there are also non-anime MV's on the Org...
If you for an example try to search on "the matrix" you'll find over 200 hits...
you can also find MV's to a lot of other movies or games...
Just try and search on it...
I've also uploaded 3 Matrix MV's myself...
I thought it wasn't against the rules to upload non-anime MV's, because there are already that many of them on the site, and some of those are also "local"...
But then why don't they remove those so noone will upload non-anime MV's?

Well... people can't upload those anymore and eventually local non-anime videos will be taken down.Zenion wrote:If you shouldn't have noticed I want to tell you that there are also non-anime MV's on the Org...

I think technically the database is supposed to not have any non-anime videos in it at all either. the Non-anime entry is because non-anime is allowed In the "Anime" music video as part of your source footage, as long as the video contains at least some anime in it. I think it could even be just a singe frame of anime footage and qualify, since the rules don't realy specify to my knowledge. (correct me if i'm wrong) I'd say if the video is non-anime footage but is about anime, like in the style of road to Ironsheff, those are probably ok too. ofcourse, I'm just going off of comon sense, a mod would have the definitive answer on this.Pie Row Maniac wrote:You can enter a non-anime video into the database, but NOT upload them to the server.
You can have the video listed here just not hosted here.
That's why we have a non-anime category.

DUDE!!!! i found an MV on limewire that had like footage of nick berg, the 2 towers blowing up, old ww2 footage... it was an averege vid compared to some on this site and it didnt really fit the lyrics all the time, but you gatta see it! search "crusty productions" thats all i know. i was gonna post the full name of it (you know how they make really long names on file sharing programs) but its to long and i think the mods would get mad if i talk about downloading stuff for to long, but i've searched "crusty productions" in google and other engines and couldnt find anything!
hey, does anybody else know about "crusty prodoctions?"

All videos listed in the catalog are supposed to have some sort of anime or AMV-relevance. To be accurate in citing sources, the non-anime category was added for videos that have some clips of live-action or otherwise non-anime source. It was never meant for entirely non-anime videos entries and should not be used as such.
