ErMac is a Mortal Kombat character as far as I know. I think it was the red scorpion like guy. (Yes I store forever all useless information.)
Is it really so traumatic. A lot of the earlier creators give up in time. (A lot of them come back with a new anime series too.)
ErMac if your reading this don't be a pussy and limp off to die.
Find new and better ways to make videos.
Structure what effects to do when based upon beats. That will half create a video right there. I have heard After Effects is good for that.
Find a simple, fast, and short song to do a video to and don't over think it. The remake of Stone Cold Crazy by Metallica would be a good example of such a song.
Maybe not tomorrow and maybe not next month. But sometime you will here a song and think of a good video idea.
That will hurt far more if you have quit then taking a long time to make a video.
Trust me on that. Just when I started getting half decent I got so busy it took over six #&@%^$ months to make The Unforgiven. It was so long in between work periods that I screwed it up royally. But hey the first little bit is pretty cool and with that as a template I may remake it one day.
The best way to end artistic blues is to bitch slap yourself, play loud kickass music, and the next time you go to sit on the damn couch get your ass up and do something. Even if what you do ends up un-inspired and lame it is that much of a step back to the top of your life.
I can not say if it is worse to be a quitter that regrets failure or a quitter that lives on without remorse, but I know it is a hell of a lot better to go down fighting and not roll over dead from the crushing pressures of the world.
You'll be back or you will regret it. Art has a way of always finding an outlet.

ErMaC,
Thanks for all your contributions to this community and hobby. I know that the guides you and AD created will probably be breathing life and knowledge into editors for a number of years (until everything is out of date! ). I think a good number of your videos have become immortalized and probably etched into some hard drives out there (and countless cdrs, see my ErMaC bootleg dvd sets on ebay! ).
Thanks for sharing your videos with us.
My big concern is:
Do we still get to see you whip everyone's ass at DDR at AWA10?

Well, good luck in the future big man. Clashing heads with you these last few years (back then) was fun, entertaining, and enlightening.
Your better still go to CONs You may be out of AMVs, but that doesn't mean you can leave your friends at the CONs hanging

Umm... ErMaC's not "giving up". He's done what he's wanted to do here, now he's moving on to things he thinks are more important. He's not obligated to stay here and edit his whole life. He's been a member since Feb. 2001... more than three years. And he's done a lot in those three years. You've only been a member since January, you don't quite understand how editing gets after that long.HeavyMetal wrote:Is it really so traumatic. A lot of the earlier creators give up in time. It's a lot of fun, especially when you first start out, but it's not a career (unless you go into actual MTV music video making or something). There's only so much money you want to spend on anime DVD's, and there's only so much time you want to spend on a hobby. He spent 400+ hours on Extraordinary World, and it's completely understandable how he would not want to spend more time than that just to make "an even better video". To do more than that would mean making editing pretty much his whole life, and I'm glad he didn't. Editing is not the whole world.
I don't think ErMaC's going to be back into editing; ever hear of Kevin Caldwell? Caldwell didn't seem to have any problem with retiring. He hasn't made an AMV since. I'm sure he's happy without it. Do you want ErMaC to stay here until he's 80? That would be a tad bit sad, don't you think? Personally, I'm glad he's had the motivation and creativity to make the good AMV's he has, but I'm glad he's moving on.HeavyMetal wrote:I can not say if it is worse to be a quitter that regrets failure or a quitter that lives on without remorse, but I know it is a hell of a lot better to go down fighting and not roll over dead from the crushing pressures of the world.

Reasonable decisions are nice. I think it's admirable of you to realize that's not where your interests lie, and move on. You've done good things - and I think the fact that you'll be remembered for those is good enough.
Cheers, and good luck! 8)

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
