ROFL!

I got Warcraft 3 for my husband for Christmas (plus the Lords of Everquest)

I'm not sure about the status of Warcraft 3, (but he hated Lords of Everquest)!

Of the things I got him, the hit turned out to be the thing he *didn't* say he wanted, which was the 5.1 speaker system I got him for the computer.

I've been battling with the copy of XP that is installed on my PC for the last month. My computer just randomly restarts cause of serious window errors. I really hate microsoft and I hope Bill Gates goes to hell(if there is one)cause that guy is a disgrace to computers. I was running off of whatever came with my XP(SP1 i believe)and it hasnt given me any problems till a year later. Damn you microsoft...

Service Pack 2 has many known issues. Been there done that, never doing it again.

It was a fresh install with SP2, but it screwed up my internet connection/browsing or whatever. I could be there surfing for a few minutes and it would go dead, I'd have to disconnect and make a new connection.

Also got nothing but BSOD's when I installed it on my RAID, so that's no good to me.

Yep, just wait until I get my new motherboard and ram... Xp Pro with SP1a integrated. I'll be fully operational one day :?

My laptop with WinXP SP1 was doing the same thing almost from the day I got it. It's a plain vanilla install; I've installed no other programs on it.

A couple of weeks ago I replaced the memory card and haven't had a single restart since. Problem solved (and fingers still crossed).

On topic, I second the tip to disable automatic updates whenever possible. But I was under the impression that Microsoft could still access the hard drive any time it wanted to after SP1 was installed. Maybe I misunderstood the news reports. :?

Since I got SP2 my computer has about a 1 in 5 chance of freezing then going to minimum screen res and color depth when I watch a .avi or .mpg neccecitating a reboot.

a normal person would stop watching videos...

an obsesed person would try to fix it...

Behold the fate of the lazy AMV creator: opening "excel pop up video." Cross your fingers.

SP2 sneakily installed WMP9 on my computer, and every now and then it plays videos in about half the normal resolution. :? The old WMP6 doesn't have playlists, so I'm using PowerDVD for AMVs for the time being.
