Gravitation is about the magical sacredness destroying power of tacky boyband music, silly. 8-)

Uhh, wow... havn't seen you around here in awhile, Sarah... or maybe I'm just blind or something, lol... where ya been?

Realistic romance anime... does one actually exist? Love Hina is semi-believable if you concentrate on the core relationship that Naru and Kei have without getting distracted by all the special effects and funky technology and magic and the whole shebang... errrm... what else? Shit, thats really all I can come up with. =/

Oh, Futari Ecchi is pretty believable, hehehe... but something tells me you may not be able to locally host a video using footage from it...

Actually noy always. Marmalade boy for instance tries to be relisitic on its aproach, theres problems, breakups, get back togethers, and couples that don't end up the way you might want them to.

Karekano also has its ups and downs in their relationship and is not all peachy all the time. Infact alot of Anime have been known to teach good moral lessons on life, and offer insight on certain cituations, (Actually its realy the manga, but the anime copies this when they animate it, often times the manga writers are writing from real life experiences.)

hmm, btw are there any shows like this that feature the shy type of female characters? Kind of like in the beginning of Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien?

hmmm... thats a hard one, the ONLY one I can think of thats remotely close to that is... Koi Kaze... but that has a strange subject matter... the girl not only is much younger than the guy, but turns out to be the guys sister. Or so they set it up as at the begining of the series, but who knows how it ends up at the end. I only watched half of it, as it just got a little too weird for me ;p

The girl definately is the more shy type though, kinda reminded me of Shinobi, but with just a little more spunk to her at times.

Any other titles I can think of the girl isn't the main character.

I think the question wasn't so much in the nature of the romance - just about any romance story is going to be shinier and more fairytale than real life, that's just the nature of fiction. I think the question was more about series that are set in the real world and with plausible characters, rather than, say, on the moon, or in the future, or with robots. ;)

(and no, I'm not supposed to be here - shh, don't tell! I don't get along with 99.999% of AMV editors, so I usually don't last long.)

You get along with me OK, am I in that 0.001% of editors am I? Cool bananas

And if it's series that are set in the real world, then Love Hina is one, Onegai Teacher is another one (for the most part, anyway - and even though theres alien characters, they're still largely human in character type).... they're the only ones I could come up with, lol....

Found this thread a little late, but maybe not too ...

Umi Ga Kikoeru (aka I Can Hear The Sea, Ocean Waves) is a beautiful little retelling of a high school romance/friendship. It's devoid of any form of fanism. By Studio Ghibli the animation is fantastic, although it's much less visually stimulating than their fantasy stuff.

I'm hoping to use it for something soonish, but I'd love to see it used by amvers with better craftsmanship. It could be exactly what you're looking for.

Here's a nice little feature/review on the film:
