Incidentally enough, that's the stuff at the bottom of my list.Zarxrax wrote:I don't like having numerical scores on opinions.
I don't like the 500,000 editors who throw together a bunch of Linkin Naruto Z videos in 1 hour and post them all and then expect people to actuall care.

The biggest thing that gets on my nerves is the lack of a social forum. I believe you guys call it an "OT board", but whatever. Same shit, different name.
The rest of what I don't like has to do with the people and attitudes here, but I'm not in the mood to get into that.

Looks like you joined right after the OT forum was shut down.inthesto wrote:Incidentally enough, that's the stuff at the bottom of my list.Zarxrax wrote:I don't like having numerical scores on opinions.

lol, I think the same thing.. though it doesn't really bother me that much.. but it does make me think WTF.downwithpants wrote:when non-moderators make posts that say "lock this thread" or intentionally derail threads that are starting to get OT.
use the mod's drop box plz.
"mods.. please lock this thread".. Then I look in the mod box and don't see them saying the same thing there. I get a good chuckle out of that. It seems like their effort usually is just a big waist of time..

all the questions that start with "how do you make an AMV?"
like its a simple process that can be explained with one paragraph.
I dont mind helping, and maybe I am steping outside the .org specifically, but I almost feel that I get asked this question on a DAILY BASIS, but its probably due to my involvement in other "fanvideo" communities, and "youtube.com" and the fact that other places DONT have guides... (I usually end up directing them to the guides here anyways, weather it is an anime person or no)
When I first got into the neruosis of making AMVs (or fanvideos, or just editing in general) I never asked questions, I screwed up and failed all on my own, and got bitched at for several things, and still do on occasion when someone wants to download one of my old videos, neglects to read the description and expects gold... though it happens alot less often these days, thank goodness (I also fixed the major problem in them and re-uploaded the videos) maybe its too much for me to expect the same out of other noobs to learn on their own, but I guess it cant be helped...
Ive gotten so tired to the point that I have "guides" and suggestions saved in a notepad file on my computer so I dont have to type the same thing a hundred times
anyways, I dont have any problems with the number scores, I could care less about them too as most people score drastically different. Usually its the text that matters, and knowing who the text is comming from
(truthfully QCs of "good video" is enough of an ego boost for me, I like to know that people like what I do, for the most part I still feel like my videos are crap, which they probably are... but no stress )
I dont have any problems with the top 10%, I dont believe in the Star Scale since both are easily abused...
one problem I have is the multiple accounts to boost / drag down the videos on the top 10% or
"revenge opinions" I havent been the victim of "revenge opinions" but a few of my friends have, the idea annoies me. its just pathetic that they think they can get revenge with an opinion
I could care less if its an "art" or not,
I dont like the fact that "popular things" get more attention than less popular things, but thats life, thats everything else out there... so yea, I dont stress it too much.
The people that are too competitive... I am NOT competitive at all the only person I worry about "besting" is myself, I like to think that I can improve on each video I make, atleast in some area.
I dont join many contests, and if I do I usually expect to be the first to drop out, or lose. but some of the people that worry about weather or not they are better than others or worry about doing better than so and so or whatever kinda annoy me...
I like to think that most people do the best they can with what they have, and if there is some way I can help them improve then I will try to help them, but if they dont want to listen to my suggestions then I guess it doesnt matter... such a shame really cause I like to see people improve, especially if they show promise

Re: Things you don't like about a-m-v.org
Hmmm......
Well I do have an issue with noobies who bitch every 4 of 5 seconds about not knowing how to use premiere. Here's an idea for you: Go BUY a copy of a more user friendly software. There are about 7 decent editing apps under $100 that can name off the top of my head. You don't have $100?! Then how can you afford the DVDs to edit with? Let alone the machine to edit on! Can't answer that? Good, then shut up!
Other than that, I don't like the fact that as an AMV editor, your audience consists primarily of people 13-18 years old. These are the people giving reviews, these are the people controlling the top10, these are the people who decide whats cool and whats popular. This age bracket is effectively driving the community to create what it wants by rewarding such with (relative) fame and status. The Top10 is filled with formulaic nonsense that is about as artisticly stimulating as two ladybugs fucking.
Yeah, that pretty much says it all.
