You seem to have a very inflated and idealistic view of what a studio is. They're mostly just names people make up for bumpers and the like. The few real ones are mainly just groups of friends doing the same general thing. There are few actual studios that are made up to be like a professional "club" of sorts...

Can you blame them? I'm sure that very many AMV fans do.
I mean, I can still remember my surprise at finding out that Doki Doki Productions was just one person (late 2002 this was).

And quite frankly, we're all to blame for it, using our professional-sounding production group names and slapping our professional-looking (or at least cool/impressive) bumpers on our videos.

Not that I'm saying those of us who indulge in such practices should stop doing so or anything like that, because let's face it, it's fun. And at worst it's a harmless practical joke on those not in the know. Just saying.

What are you talking about; people in studios have to have mad crazy skill’az with egos the size of the Bush administration’s ability to ignore popular opinion. Suckas, now that is on the real. Put that in your peace pipe and smoke it.

So says the man who is in a multi-person studio, with a professional-sounding group name, and professional-looking bumpers on his videos. :D
Having trouble playing back videos? I recommend: Image

As nifty as it might sound to be part of a studio with others, I feel the cons outweigh the pros. Many conventions are not only enforcing "per creator" limits for how many videos to send in, but also "per group". Even though Ma Belle and I live in the same house, and edit in the same room back-to-back, I'm AnimeBelle Studios while she is Wasted Days And Wasted Nights Productions.

That, and I have to promote my website, while she gets to use whatever she wants for her studio bumpers. :P

theres also all this studio drama crap... When the studio tries to kick you out.. and then put you up to a semi-Impossable challenge... like Winning a con 3 years running and winning your first Iron Chef in the same day...
yeah... studios are ok.. but pick the right one...
