I mean unless their REAALLY long and cause you to press page down a couple times. I mean, geeze!! One or two lines, maybe one or two PARAGRAPHS max!! I swear, some ppl write their THESIS on this stuff.

Ah, crap. I have a really long video info page. :( I just started to type, and it ended up like that.

At any rate, I can't even remember how much time I spent on editing. I never keep track. Can you count restarting a project or time spent compressing or processing/cleaning up footage?

For the most part, the amount of time is not really a factor in how I judge a video. If a video just comes together in a few days or hours, spending more time on it to artificially increase the time spent on editing it won't necessarily make it better. Just like in cooking, you don't want to overmix your batter or overcook your dish. Hell, even barbecue which can take pretty long, after a certain point, spending any more time in the pit/smoker/grill won't make it more tender or more flavorful.
Having trouble playing back videos? I recommend: Image

lmao! I'd commend you on your... naivety -_-, lol but we all get that excited on our amvs. I get that excited on my speach papers (weirdly), but that's what rough drafts are for. We can't use a ton of effort on our videos yet halfass a simple info page. It just makes sence to me.... I can't say your video sucked because of this, but certain areas in my op (review, overall) may be considered.

I like a good long info page, myself. It doesn't usually affect my scoring, but it makes a tremendous difference both to whether I'll leave an op, and to what that op will say. Plus, chances are I won't have downloaded a vid that only gives me a couple of lines of description. I like to know what I'm getting before I hit that download button.

I like to know a lot about a vid - the editing process, the tools used, the way the concept grew and changed throughout the process... It all adds to my understanding and enjoyment of the vid, and allows me to learn from it too. There is nothing so valuable to newb amv makers such as myself as a detailed info page telling me what various programs are capable of, and how to achieve certain effects. A case in point - I recently watched one of Arigatomina's vids - "Star Crossed", and noticed an overlay effect being used, despite it being made in wmm2. Thanks to this I now know how to achieve a similar effect for myself, even with the half-baked equipment I have to use. Win!

It's a harsh person who'll actually mark *down* because of a long vid info page. After all, you don't *have* to read it, do you?

No, I don't have to read it, but it IS an obsticle in my way, maybe 1 more thing I have to ignore. Yes, it is a preference, but aren't you also overjoyed when you see an info page YOU like?? As you said, overjoyed enough to give an op. It's the same thing with me, except I like the other type of info pages. the only defference is your not about to op a vid (presentation included) you don't like whereas I am.

As I said I had, for the past few years, taken into account those that have other preferences than I, I just didn't know you all existed beforehand!!

And please don't say 'just ignore it!' It's subtitles!! JUST IGNORE IT! It's nasty ugly abrupt cuts and split ends JUST IGNORE IT! It's just interlaceing or a burp in the audio JUST IGNORE IT. No thankyou, it IS my opinion.

When I find a description I don't want to read before download, either because of spoilers or because I could download the vid in the time it takes to read said description, I press the End key. If only all AMV pet peeves could be dealt with so easily. :)

Funny, I was thinking this the other day. I know my first video took me about 3 days of near constant work. But my most rescent cliche Final Fantasy Video took me more time selecting the song than it did to take the video really. I find myself spending more time on the ending of my video than actually cutting, splicing, and transitioning scenes.

I think people are slightly led to a dissapointed and envious feeling when they find out that what takes them a long time people get it done faster.

I've kind of doubted it does, hell I think the majority of users don't even read that info. Me, I read it after, I prefer to judge the video on its merrits, not what came before it.

It's natural for people to prejudge things, especially when selecting from from such a large range.

Look at it this way: If 90% of the videos on this site are crap (80,000) and half of them are made in a matter of hours (40,000), and 5% of the remaining videos are made in several hours (450) then a 4 hour video has a 1.125% chance of being good. Since most of the good ones will be made by established creators and most of the bad ones by unknown creators, looking at the name narrows it even more.

I'm just estimating here but you get the idea. Given odds like those are you at all suprised that people assume 4 hours=crap?
