just wondering... to those amv editors with little resources

look, back in the day it wasnt as bad.... not to mention that as long as you werent stealing clips that were edited by someone else *just using footage that dont have effects and such* but now adays... anime dvds are so cheap... just search for good deals... their out there...

well thats our goal... to get decent editors to do what we do.. ripoff peoples videos and make fun of them..

If you think you can make a video people can enjoy that uses other peoples footage, then do it. If you want to do it just for yourself and don't care who it pisses off, do it. If it's to just piss people off, then DEFINITELY do it.

Also it's fun to do as parodies to the videos. King of spain is always fun for me. I wish more people would rip off of others vids and make some fun parodies. Have you ever felt like making a montage off of others videos.. ever thought of scenes from someone elses video, how they cut and edit to match a scene in your video? I mean this could work. Random montage amvs work, I mean check this one out.

To do the same thing but instead use clips from amvs instead of a bunch of fansubs sounds like a fun idea. It could work, a lot of people would hate due to the fact that you used scenes from other amvs, but I bet if they didn't even know you used clips from other amvs, they could love it. I don't give much crap about this ethics crap, some of my favorite amvs don't follow them, all that matters to me is if I enjoy the video. I agree to try to think outside the box of doing the cheap and easy thing, witch is listed in the amv ethics guide, but like I said a lot of great things come out from those that don't follow it. I agree with one of the ethics completely though.

I'd hope a lot of people who didn't have dvdroms (or dvds) would be using game footage to make vids with. At least when they're starting out. I figured that was where the occassional rush in FFvids come from. All you need is a cdrom to rip ps1 games, and a lot of them have enough cg scenes to make some nice vids. Then there's the fact that you can download those same cg scenes, small files, short, and get them all without too much trouble even if you *are* on dial-up. Unlike downloading anime, it only takes a few files and you have every usable scene in the game - just a little lower quality than if you'd ripped the game discs yourself. Quite a few people started out doing that, downloading or ripping game footage because they didn't have the dvdrom or fast connection to get ahold of anime footage.

Using amv footage is just lazy. If a person on dialup can take 6hrs to get a 50mb amv to canibalize, they can take a few hours to get the entire cg collection from ff8 instead. I know people on dialup who used used high quality raws from multi-episode series. It's not harder, it just takes a little longer.

Saying it's not your fault because you don't have the resources is just an excuse. That's like complaining that you can't make amvs because you don't have a computer. It's too bad. But no one is going to buy one for you. Hobbies take money.

wow, im being completely hated on. but i got some dvds that can capture footage with, now all i have to do is to capture it. i try my best not to break any ethics or anything.

As long as you use amvs that have good video quality and you dont use any clips that have effects, there should be nothing wrong with getting clips of other amvs. Just remember to convert the clips you take out to huffyuv so you don't loose much quality in the final render.
