I think my style keeps changing a lot.. Recently I've been trying to do lyrical and beat syncing at the same time, which is quite hard and frustrating  But the final result looks quite good once you get it right, so it's worth it.

Style is reserved for things you create from scratch. An anime music video better NOT have your style on it, because its not your anime or music. Every video is its own independent case where methods and ways of accomplishing goals are completely different. It would be kind of silly to put an author defining characteristic in your video just for its own sake.

Example: VicBond putting lens flares in all his videos, regardless of modd, tempo, ect. This actually may be a bad example as lens flares are never appropriate but you know what I'm talking about

Since the initial bud of the idea is already present, you don't need to filter it through your "style" to understand how you'll accomplish your video. You know how it will look and how it will sound.

Ugg, I'm not articulating myself very well. I'll come back with a picture or something.

I disagree. An editor may have a particular style that they adhere to. Saying that style only applies to things created from scratch is fallacious. It would be like saying movie editors have no style of editing because many of them don't film their own footage.

Now whether there's merit or not in limiting yourself to a particular style, etc. is completely different.

I think you already know this, but I try to go for the same thing too

even when I do basic action videos, I still try to match the mood of the vocals.

To some degree I agree with this since a lot of the feeling of a video is the song/anime. However some editors do have a distinctive style and tend to pick anime/music that matches it or, in some cases, their style is distinctive enough that source doesn't matter. I'm convinced if Decoy did Oh My Goddess Technique Beat everyone could tell who did it even though the anime is nothing like what he's used in the other technique beats. Similarly, compare Zarx's sappy ass christmas video and his lecherous jacking off to comics video and it's easy to tell the same creator did both. Doki's videos are pretty easily identifiable just because he's almost the only one that uses effects for something other than hitting you upside the head with the beat. The wonder twins are easily identifiable as well, although in their case it's because I suspect when they make a new video they actually just keep the same cuts/effects/etc as before and just point Premieres to a different anime source.

Anyway, point being AMV creators styles are limited because of anime/music however there are people with distinctive styles anyway.

I think my style is "do stuff" occasionally replaced with "do other stuff" and "pretend you're another editor, and do stuff their way."

DON'T TEMPT ME

Seriously, I'd want to do that one eventually, perhaps :P
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
