Like others have said, I say do whatever the hell you want as long as it doesn't suck, is deinterlaced, good footage quality, and no subs(except parody subs).

I'll always want to produce works that I'm passionate about and have concepts that I'll constantly obsess over. If someone has found pleasure in watching a video of mine then that will have made my day (or even week!). If someone didn't enjoy it then no hard feelings but point me in the direction to make improvements. Of course it may not be to your tastes - then hey no problem!
I don't think any of my future videos will ever be turn out to arty or even follow some editing trend. Of course, the reason is simple - they don't have to. Some editor's will have a dedicated fanbase (sometimes more obsessive than most) that will expect certain things of a video and what not... Still I don't think it should pressure editors to conform to any standard, and I'd like to think all that goes without saying.
