I made my parents watch some AMVs, mine included. They hardly show any interest. My mom kept saying "You shouldn't waste your time on this". My father regrets it only uses anime footage.
I think my brother watched some of mine once, but didn't really care either.
Only few of my friend watch anime, and only my best friend occasionally watch AMVs.

Looks like i won't get source of motivation in my surroundings :/

Wish my unit was like that, but from one squid to another, a lot of the members of my unit were... shipmates. If you catch my drift. (This is an inside reference, so only prior or current Navy should understand what I mean by this).

Largely depends on the type of AMV I show them. Most of my friends loved the "Clarissa" Minami-ke AMV I showed them, but expressed zero interest in slower paced AMVs with no effects.

As for my family. Hmm, I don't really go out of my way to show them AMVs, but the few that they have seen they don't really have any opinion on.

My parents don't even know how to switch on a comp (yet)... I showed my mom an AMV i made once and she was like "It's cool", but it seemed to not interest her much... my bro edits too.. obviously. About friends well most of them I haven't seen since school and i think there are only 1 or 2 of em interested in AMVs anyway...
Hmm sometimes i wonder how i actually got into computers, anime, video games and that shit... but whatever I'm here now \o/

My wife has a null interest in them.

My son likes them in the same way any other anime watching person might ie depends on the content entirely.

I have some anime friends that like them, and some anime friends that would rather watch Dr Phil (that's my way of saying they hate Dr Phil even less :)).

So essentially I have found amvs get about the same level of response as anime in general does. Some like them, some not.

Aside from the people I know here on the Org, no one else cars that I make AMVs. Parent's never really supported me and my two siblings (younger and older sister) could not care less.

So yeah... :amv:

My kids have different reactions. My middle daughter is a great critique. My oldest son berates me for the "emo" songs I use, and the other three just respond with wow....again until I show them a good amv.

My husband edits too.

My mother demands all my work is sent to her when it's complete. After the first round of the iron chef, I was reluctant to send her my Gun Grave piece. I argued that I knew she wouldn't like it. Well, she won the argument and got to see the video. She was shocked at the violence!!!! LOL and said "They shouldn't do stuff like that in cartoons!! hehehehe
She was down visiting recently and got to see some of the stuff I was working on. I giggled after she watched a Vampire Hunter D piece I'd finished.....She looked up from the comp obviously struggling for the right words and said "that was ummmm ahhhh.....dark".

The rest of my relatives nod politely and ask if I get paid.....,but some of them ask if I've made anything new. Most of them have seen my brothers wedding video I edited (which was crappy, but they all loved it) and think I should get a job working in editing. Ya, I don't think so.

My friends watch my videos and think they're cool.

As for family, uh, most of them I'm not even close to so they don't really know, but intermediate, they're cool with it. My sister used to watch anime all the time and she had an account here to watch AMVs. So does my little brother and he made AMVs for a bit. And by AMVs, I mean take other people's AMVs and just slap different music to'em. Yep.
