Storyboard? Haha nooooo
I get a song and i think of an animu and if it clicks i just start ripping clips and see wut happens in the long run. If it doesnt work out.. well at least i didnt spend a long time writing some long-arse storyboard which probably was what killed my motivation in the first place.
I personally find the less preparation I have to do for an amv, the more likely itll actually get finished. Heil laziness :<

If I like the video idea a lot, I let it gestate in my head for a few years while I edit it completely in my head.
Eventually I either lay the actual clips down and possibly change it as I go, or I decide that I can't live up to the amazing video in my head that I don't share my brilliance with anyone else.

Re: How do you storyboad\plan your amvs?
I can't say I really plan my vids. The stuff I do is pretty spontaneous
-I listen to a song I like.
-I feel like making a vid to said song.
-I try and find an anime that works with the song.
From there I imagine certain points in the video and then just let the rest flow/fall into place.

Re: How do you storyboad\plan your amvs?
If I do 'storyboard', it's usually in a sense of context - I have the scene in mind and simply describe in a few words or something, typically next to the lyric I was going to pair it to. In other situations, it has more to do with the presentation of the scene. Generally though, this happens during the editing process, rather than before - that's mainly in my head.
Then on the other hand, some of the videos I did completely by building from the start forward, in which case I go with how I can manage to make the timeline make sense (Fate Against Will, In Search Of Meaning, and potentially even Eien no... fall into this category). Other times I simply throw together sequences on the timeline and see what sticks (like with ...Whatever...).

Re: How do you storyboad\plan your amvs?
When I listen to a good song or instrumental, I usually come up with a few ideas. Then, curious if these ideas may be some good realization, I start searching for animes which will fit the song/instrumental. And then, if everything is good as I can see it in my head, I start making the AMV.
Something like that ^^

Then create the rest of the video so it leads up to that.

I don't rip... or rather I don't clip (or clean) so ripping only takes like 20 minutes I admit the next part involving using the entire vob to make a 4 minute amv takes forever but time flys, for me, by this point. It's practically imposible to forget. Besides:Vivaldi wrote:I'm talking more about what happens before you even rip the source. I for one can't keep a detailed plan in mind for the amount of time it takes to rip.
long trips are BRUTAL for me nowadays... I typically sit there totally phazed out laughing to myself... ppl think I'm strange. I am kind of.Koopiskeva wrote:All in my head.
Anyway you'd probly say I use this time to 'storyboard' in my head. say 2-3 hours a couple times a week makes it so I'll never forget a thing about my AMVs lol.
If you do not think so... you will DIE
