Experience (IMO) is when you find out that you no longer have to ask people for something (though you can, because sometimes it's faster), but instead THEY come to YOU and THEY ask YOU for advice.

I think when you actually understand what you see (and know how to do some stuff) in amvs you're considered experience. I remember when I was still using WMM I saw Tainted Doughnuts and was like "WTF?! How...?!" But now masking is like old news to me.
