I do see where you all are coming from, it doesn't fit the site's description. But why not allow it to evolve? AMV's is how it started, and now that LAMVs have become prominent, and most people here would obviously be interested, why not expand?Knowname wrote:to add LAMVs to AMVs.org's catalog would just be ludicrous. now to add LAMVs that AMV makers had made to the catalog, imo, would be a step to far as well. But that's just my opinion.

You kind of make it sound like this whole evolving from AMVs to AMVs AND LAMVs is an obvious thing to do. From an overall 'fan-made music video' viewpoint it seems so, but from primarily an 'anime music video' viewpoint, most likely not. As long as Phade's interest is just to keep cataloguing only AMVs, then that's how it is. The 'evolving' concept is a nice deal to talk about, but it's not really necessary for this case.Epical Zamora wrote: I do see where you all are coming from, it doesn't fit the site's description. But yeah, this whole deal just reminded me of something. Is Phade still running that music catalogue site for musicians? I totally forgot about that til now.
For the record, that's just saying like you're going to AMVorg and not be able to find AMVs(b/c Taco Bell does serve burritos, I dunno if they're good or not, though :\.. ). LAMVs don't tie into this version of that analogyEpical Zamora wrote: I think it would be more like going to Taco Bell and not being able to get a burrito.

I have to agree on the taco bell/burrito beinga bad analogy. taco bell/burger is much better. Here's why:Unlimited Rice wrote:For the record, that's just saying like you're going to AMVorg and not be able to find AMVs(b/c Taco Bell does serve burritos, I dunno if they're good or not, though :\.. ). Tacos and burgers can both have (and often do contain): Hamburger, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. However, key differences make the two vary different, to a level where asking for a burger at a taco bell would be silly.

Lol, didn't expect I would be arguing my Taco Bell analogy. XD I meant that tacos and burritos are in the same category (Mexican food) just like AMVs and LAMVs are (fan made music videos). But whatever, I think you got what I was going for.
It's definitely not a necessary change, just a possible one.
Well, it's not an obvious change. If it were, it would have happened already. It's not something I would expect to happen immediately, I'd just like people to entertain the idea for the time being. It's not like having them in the catalog actually inconveniences anyone.Unlimited Rice wrote:You kind of make it sound like this whole evolving from AMVs to AMVs AND LAMVs is an obvious thing to do. I have made a ton of Live action videos, I happened to be part of that community for a large number of years so I not saying the following just because I'm into anime only,
This site is DEDCIATED to AMVs and not all the genera that have music video made to it and that is the way it will most likely stay...
I've already also mentioned one of the issues if it was to become (there are a lot more), say, musicvideos.com as we would now have to deal with the North American studios and lawyers who would probably eat us alive... besides, this is the anime music video community so why change it unless we all feel it's no longer good enough for our needs...
And the fast food analogy is a moot point at best, it like arguing here that anime conventions should have live action TV shows and movies incorporated into them as well.. There is a reason they are what they are the community they serve…

But comparing Tacos and burritos is more akin to say, AMVs and MADs. Both fall under very similar fan-bases. Now, Burgers would constitute a very different and separate fan base from tacos. You may have people who like both, but that doesn't mean they should both be available at the taco bell. O:Epical Zamora wrote:Lol, didn't expect I would be arguing my Taco Bell analogy. We are SO off topic... XD
Maybe we can just copy the a-m-v.org php and put an L before everything that says AMV.
Many good points, I think I'm finally done. Now I'll have to convince someone to make liveactionmusicvideos.org and risk the C&D from 20th Century Fox.Vlad G Pohnert wrote:I have made a ton of Live action videos, I happened to be part of that community for a large number of years so I not saying the following just because I'm into anime only,

Nah we're happy with just the org ;p.Epical Zamora wrote:I do see where you all are coming from, it doesn't fit the site's description. But why not allow it to evolve?
