When I export an interlaced movie from Premiere as Laga to import it into After effects do I have to deinterlace the video first ?
Why not just importing the premiere project. But, well, I think that de-interlacing is better, but leaving it interlaced *shouldn't* be a problem.

I laughed. Hard.

See the first post of this thread, that will give you a basic overview of editing.

can i say as a complete newb to the amv scene, i appreciate all the information and definately this site's efforts to integrate the community of amv makers but i wish there were more or better structured guides on amv making. a lot of guides i find on the internet are either 1) condescending in tone 2) explain concepts too thinly to understand 3) purely based on opinion but how do the noobs discriminate the good and bad information?

i'm talking of a proper break down guide which uses short clips from (what the majority say) are good vids as examples. can this be done or am i just making myself seem unpopular? :D
i'm sure there can be more in depth guides on making amvs which convey manipualated storylines, action sequences, etc.

There is no universal definition of good versus bad videos, and many things that are well done depends heavily on the video the build the proper context. A climactic bit of editing is nothing without all the buildup.

Actually, have you tried the guides here?

Hi, AMV noob here, and I'd just like to say thanks for the guide, it helped a lot! I'm completely new to the AMV scene, my only foray into something like this being a "300" music video I put on Youtube.

I just had a quick question concerning subtitles in AMVs; are they "outright forbidden" or just "frowned upon?" In the project I'm working on, a lyric mentions someone changing themselves from something they were, and the clip I chose shows a character summing up what kind of person they are. I think it's perfect and already decided to keep it, but if it were subtitle-less then it'd just be the character mouthing nothing.

So I'd like to hear what the community thinks of something like this.

Thanks!

im also kind of a noob but have been editing with Final Cut Express on my iMac(Final Cut Express is still good!!! don't sinfle it out on the first page of posts) but subs are almost always frowned upon i use raw footage and dvd rips so no subs for me but is u use them creatively and use them in a cool way then maybe (stressing the maybe) some people won't frown upon it (stressing the some) but yea. one way that i did not frown upon subs was in Shinnie's bleach amv when he used it at the beggining and at the end. well i didn't frown upon because he had raw footage that he used for the actual vid.

They're okay in a case by case basis if you were the one to make them and put them there. It usually only works for comedic purposes and/or with music devoid of lyrics. Unless it fits prominently in your concept, don't use them more than sparingly.
