I'm sturck by the profoundness of your words. And I think despite the general opinion that Mad Hatter is doing this to get a rise, I'm going to give him a rise...
In what way is what I said indicative of my taste in AMV? Why is any of what I said demeaning to myself? Are you simply typing to here the sound of your own fingers?

Yes he spent time on the Guides with AD but positive attention?....I don't believe that....Have you ever e-mailed him?...I asked a question before and he replied but when I asked him in more serious depth about a question reguarding the DV500 I now own he just ignores everybody...That's a bit harsh I believe....klinky wrote:ErMaC is not anal, is not stuck up. He invested alot of time into the guides along with AD, has helped out quite a few people and has bitten the heads off of people who prolly deserver(evil newbies who can't read a guide or a manual :\). ErMaC gets alot of attention because he gives a bunch of positive attention to the AMV community.

No matter how many e-mails I get from newbies and people who know what they are doing I help out in every way I can...I work 4 days a work with 11 hour days....I've been spending all my freetime and time I DON'T have into this CSUN AMV Contest I'm running.....I've taken sick days off to finish these videos for the actual contest which is this saturday...
Personally not be rude in anyway but I think ErMaC is rather egotistical....First off thinking Disney ripped off your video in one way or another because they used the same clip or whatever happened (I heard about this but didn't see it...)...That's pretty sad...So what do they have?..Does Disney have investigators searching AMV creators web sites trying to steal ideas from us?...Ohhh please....Saying something like that proves he's Egotistical...Although I have nothing against him he should tone down himself before everbody (Already a lot) hates him.
I mean yea he made it to AX 2001 finals...Yea he won action...But should that make you think you are the best and that high up?...I've submitted my Enigma video about and one and look at me?...Am I going around telling people that Disney stole a idea I used in my vid?...no...Am I going around and complaining because my video didn't make it to the finals?....Not at all.....It's pretty pathetic when you see someone whine because their video (Which was his Speed Racer video) didn't make it to the finals of a contest....Just because you win one year doesn't make you an absolute contestant for every year...If someone believe that they should re-think why they are here in the AMV community...
Yes I use to believe to myself that I made videos for myself and didn't care about what people think...Hell of course I do....But what videos I make are for my joy alone...If I want to make a Linkin Park song to DBZ...Hell...I'll do it...It's my choice...But when you see people running around and complaining like this that just proves how low the AMV Community is going....We make this for our personal pleasure and in my case to express myself...You shouldn't take something like this that literally and fight for it....If you do it would just make you look childish..
I make videos for one reaosn...For me and only me...The plus to it is distributing my work to others...Some people like them...Some people hate them....Everyone is entitled to their own opinions...Deal with them...

WHAT! Only a hobby??? I thought it was the path for taking over the world!SpPANDA wrote:Your dead right, its a hobby, not a profession. Its fun, not serious. This heirarchy u were talking about? i noticed it to. Self appointed computer gods. Fuckin egotrippers, the lot of them."
yeah...i'm not alone...
But seriously, it seems that activities that get to be on such a scale as AMV editing seems to bring this kind of behaviour out. It's kind of sad that a small little hobby that expands out into an international thing has to be taken so seriously. In my 20 years of of experiences in fandom of anime, SF and fantasy I find this seems to hold true every time. When a good thing starts off small, everyone gets along, but as it grows, the Hobby Politics" as I now call it seems to come out of the woodwork.
My advice is not to bother paying any attention to the people who bring negative things against others, but to consentrate on the positive things. Why? Because this kind of behavior exits everywhere and you cannot escape it (unless you run from society and become a hermit) so one must learn to deal with it...
I really don't see why a thread like this have so continue, why not just put the energy into more constructive dicussion about the hobby we all have in common...

Everything will be cordless soon!Vlad G Pohnert wrote:Hmmm...The only problem with that is you will need a very long extension cord for your editing hardware setup and then you'll have to enter "political" negotiations for the power from your closet neighbor!!Castor Troy wrote:I need to become a hermit.

Auuuuu, but you'll also need your daily dose of Anime so you'll have to enter "political" negotiations in order to get that as well!

Wrong...wrong...wrong...and I doubt you've even considered serving tea with it. o_OVlad G Pohnert wrote: My advice is not to bother paying any attention to the people who bring negative things against others, but to consentrate on the positive things. Negativity...is a GOOD thing. If it wasn't, we wouldn't be able to feel it. When you ignore it, bottle it up, pretend you're a Vulcan, whatever, all you wind up doing is damaging yourself. You bottle it all up inside and it back builds day after day after day, until one day, you wind up reaching a breaking point.
People should learn to embrace the negative side of things, to explore them, to play with them. That's what this thread is really about, it's about playing. It's like our own private lil set of AMV 90210, or Days Of Our Lives. Some people get to be the bad guys, some the good guys, others inbetween, and we play out all these lil scenarious...it's fun...it's healthy...and you should not try and hide from it. The only thing you really need to do is remember to not take it seriously, now you can pretend to take it seriously, by all means don't forget that, just don't let it really get to you.
