Im a newbie also but being new can have its advantages, as you have said, people can use material that has been over used, to the point of saturation. However, new people can also bring a new lease of life, perhaps they may stumble across a new idea or concept that you might like. Also, people who are more experinced can teach the newer people who can then apply what they have been taugh to try to create these new things, perhaps using an old concept in a new way.
I love to see any amvs created, afterall we are all here for the same reason. Perhaps it can become tedious to watch amvs which repeat the same mistakes over again but its an important part of the learning process. It makes no difference to me the age of the amvs or the experince of their creators, I watch them for their origionality and creativity and attempt to find 'good' ones (good being subjective as it is dependent upon the person). I attempt to learn from said good videos in order to become a more experienced editor and produce better quality amvs. This i think is the only way new works become classics only with time, plus without the stuff that you feel isnt good, how would you recognise when an AMV is good?
Thefore I wish good luck to all who create AMVs because we are all here for the same thing.

First off, thanks for the plug trythil
Secondly, the way that AMVs work is that usually a good AMV takes more time to make, hence why it may seem like there aren't many. If you start watching AMVs and gather up a ton of them, most likely you'll gather up a bunch of the ones that most everyone has (ie, the ones people really like and consider good). But if you're constantly on the lookout for a "good" AMV, please understand that AMVs take a LOT of time (especially for a busy college student like me). The reason why you may feel that too many "not good" AMVs are coming out is the fact that well, they take less time to do, hence the more rapid output.
If I repeated what someone said, sorry about that. Just wanted to get a bit off my chest considering I find this year to be exceptionally good in terms of AMVs and I'm seeing a lot of new people step up to the plate and others getting considerably better. Last year I felt that things weren't so great other than a few really exceptional AMVs, so I said I'd sit down and try my best to do something that required a lot of thought and work. I only hope I did that this year.
By the way, Summer break = time to work on AMVs

Never said anything about the song. The song is great. The video sucks. =Pmexicanjunior wrote:I absolutely love that video. The song = gold. :DBogoSort wrote:What are you talking about? I've seen several people on the board talk about overused clips. Is there a thread somewhere that has a list or something of scenes used way too often? I've only been making action videos, because they seem easiest and I'm still learning, but I'd rather not post a video for this site that has something that warrants a groan from people who have seen too many videos with the same scene over and over.

frankly I don't complain much about overused clips, and I don't worry too much about using them in my vids.

There isn't a thread, but if you've been around for a year or two, you can think of all the different videos made during that time and find certain scenes from nearly all animes that are used a lot. An example for RK would be the Kenshin/Saitoh fight, for DBZ (thought it's all been done for the most part) is the Goku/Majin Vegeta fight, etc. Basically, the most important part of an anime, or the best scene - the favorite scene has probably been used unless the anime has never been used before. And for an anime with lots of vids, you can bet almost all of them use that same 'favorite' scene, making those clips overused. Doesn't mean you should ignore the best part of the anime, though, just use them differently.

There isn't really a list per se, but I was working on one to draw clips from for my Tricky vid. Some clips have a lot of meaning to creators, and thus they get used in vids. These clips probably also have significant meaning to the audience, thus evoking a response from them. You're not going to cause groaning from the audience just from using any particular overused scene. You're much more likely to get said groans from an overused concept of song and anime. Thus don't let the overuse of a scene (like Vash dancing) stop you from using it in your vid if you have an appropiate place for it.Cole wrote:I've seen several people on the board talk about overused clips. There is a list of most often used anime on the site proper... as for scenes, I guess you just have to watch a bunch of videos from the show you're using, and get a feel for it that way.Cole wrote:I've seen several people on the board talk about overused clips.
