It sounds like you need codecs to watch many of the .avi vids here at the site. The Gordian Knot Codec pack contains the folowing: DivX3.11alpha, DivX5.11 Pro, XviD Koepi 24062003-1, Huffyuv 0.2.2.1, AC3Filter 0.70b, mpgaudioax, Morgan Stream Switcher and ffdshow alpha 2003-05-23.

You should be able to play almost all .avi files with this which is available here.

On the 'Member Main' page you'll see a link on the bottom left for 'Search Vids.' Use that and use the 'Super Search' - enter the name of the anime you're looking for and you should find some vids to download. You can get the direct and indirect, but if you just joined you'll have to either donate or wait 2 weeks before you can download the 'local' vids. Still, you should be able to find some to get now if you search for them. ^.~
