Hmmm...I'm beginning to feel a little discouraged about my old wmv intros - I didn't realize how unpopular they were. But then again, they are wmvs

The intro for <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... eflections of Style was about 50 seconds long, but worked into the music and not separate, so as annoying as I found it (and I was even on the project), I couldn't bring myself to just skip past it.

But if the intro doesn't tie into the video proper like that, then yeah, I'd say 27 seconds is a bit long to sit through.

I'm always changing my bumper, but my longest was 10 seconds or less, and I think it's a pretty good limit.

I also get annoyed at long ending sequences... for instance, Evening News with Pretty Sammy! (where have I heard that song before?) had about a half-minute-long ending credits sequence that had nothing to do with the rest of the video and rather ticked me off when I realized that it wasn't going to get better.

first, extra megabytes, even if the video is well compressed, do mean extra minutes for dial-up. (don't dismiss them, they do make up a good fraction of the users here.)

second, what is the point of using long bumpers?
A bumper should at most show:
the title of the video
the studio name/logo
the creator's name/handle
gratitude towards helpers
sources used
date created

if it really takes more than 10-15 seconds to read everything, all you have to do is hit pause. i really don't understand the point of long bumpers unless they are part of the vid or a vid unto themselves (example: SOUL GLO or Anxiety), or if its a massive multieditor project (example: Animix, however Reflections of Style had a bumper that was too long for my taste.)

well you cant just have the title and a song playing...
thats BORING! i mean wouldnt you rather have lets just say "mini-amv" playing before the actual thing, many people have done it in the past this one may not go over 10 seconds, but the combined time of the credits does but i can still watch it over and over again

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=34358 its cool and somewhat long but who cares its SPIFFY!

I used to download 80 meg amvs and 100 meg Quake 3 mods on my 33k modem.

Deal with it.

Ah, but were they 80 meg amvs, or were they 15 meg amvs with 65 meg credits attached? ;p

It's not the download itself, it's what you get for that download. I've downloaded a crapload of vids (check my review count), most of them in the 60mb range, and I didn't mind one bit. It's only when I download something huge expecting an amv and getting credits instead - then I get a little miffed about the waste of time.

5MB is UNBELIEVABLY FREAKING HUGE to someone on dial-up.

Have you ever accessed the Internet via a dial-up connection?

No, I just want to see the video and the name of its edior.

Imagine if the movie "Spider Man 2" was an hour of credits, followed by 25 minutes of Spidey beating up Doc Oc, followed by another hour-long credit sequence.

Quite frankly, no.
