You don't necessarily need to use a different format container for soft-subs. I just recently found a video that used avi, and had a srt file with it, so that you could have subs if you wanted, or not, and still have it in avi, or maybe even mpeg, format.

I don't really care if the song is in English, Japanese or an other language. I have an AMV with a French song and I really like it.
