Does anyone really rip their DVD's to make AMV's?

I used to rip my DVDs but after spending days on Evangelion and still having it look like shit I gave up on that.
Then I tried downloaded footage because the series wasn't avalable in the US and spent days trying to clean it up. Looked like shit so I gave up on that.
Now I just take decent videos that have less than 500 hits, slap my bumper on them, and hope no one notices. It still looks like shit but I'm pumping out a complete video in 5 minutes instead of spending days on just video quality alone so what do I care?
