Why is "art" a dirty word?

art is simply a generic term for any product of the creative impulse

I think that the kind of art that the topic creator is refering to is something a bit deeper than just anything with creativity... he's talking the about something so inspiring that it deserves a spot in a museum. But anime just doesn't seem artsy to me...

By you're logic, what is art?

The Mona Lisa is a painting, so you're logic says that isn't art,
Michelangelo's David is a sculpture, not art,
So what would art be?

That's like saying idaho potatoes aren't potatoes, or skyscrapers aren't buildings.

if you read posts eariler then i said:
The Mona Lisa is art.
Michelangelo's David is a scuplture.
AMVs are fanart
And animes are animtion, no different then The Simpsons, or Futrama.
Again, anime is a type of animation which is a form of art.
