download over 4000 amvs and come back and tell me what your findings are...

my "stats" are from my personal experiences... I have downloaded over 4000 AMVs and that is what my "findings" are...

Im not being specific on this, and I DID say that some people make good amvs with the format, its just that MOST dont.

I said IN GENERAL most are not good... not specific this AMV.wmv is not good compared to this AMV.avi

infact its not a "bold" generalization at all :/ its just a generalization..

How does vid quality have anything to do with amv announcements? On topic, at least in this post:

I always post there HOPING for anyone and everyone to see my vids... 3 good reasons really:

1. I love attention, I'm not the shy wallflower modest type, and does that make my ego big? You bet your ass, and the more attention I get, the better.

2. I use other vids as benchmarks. If I always accepted my own vids as best, then I wouldn't care what others thought and frankly, would only use this site as a server, but I do care what other people think which leads to...

3. I learn from others. If nobody sees my amvs, then I get no positive or negative feedback, and therefore, no room to try something new. If everyone told me my vids were fine all the time, I'd never do anything different. But since they don't, I always strive to be better than everyone else around me...

Is it impossible? of course not... Look at Koop!! [LOL] best effects AND NON-FX AMVS! Best Artistic, best every freakin' thing...

So case and point: you'll never ever get better, in my opinion, if you 'don't care' what other people think and can only judge your own vid in your eyes vs. others' eyes.

To me, saying your vid is ultimate is the most egotistical thing to say especially when everyone else disagrees...

I'd like to think my vids rock but there's always someone out there with useful reviews [not 3 words saying all 1s] that can point out what needs fixing where...

getting all 10s never hurt me though so feel free to do so! ^_^

I usually do not announce my videos here, mainly because I think it's not at all about the amount of clicks or opinions. It's way cooler to get a comment because someone felt like searching for the particular song/band or anime you used for those people were really into it at this moment. Don't feel too comfortable at all "forcing" someone into watching.
Therefore I hardly read any threads in the announcement section, too, since I'm just like that. ;)

Well, many people are STILL intimidated by their computer and hate going to the forums

Many ppl just HATE going to the forums because of the incesant capitalistic competition crap that is inherint on most forum populace.

Some videos just SHOULDN'T be announced, such as videos made just cuz your bored or experimental ones and such. It's really up to the editor.

Then again that's getting back to capitalistic competition -_-.

I never announce my AMVs. I am not trying to get giant ammounts of hits. if people want to see a specific kind of AMV, and it just so happens that mine fits the criteria in the Super Search, then so be it.

I always announce mine, (hehe a grand total of 2) since I do this as a hobby I'm interested in what people think. People tend to get too married to their work and not take criticism constructively, when in reality it's a very valuable thing. If I create a "sub par" work, then I'd like people to tell me so...and besides, I think the whole idea of the community is to share your creations with other people, despite what you think about them. It's more fun that way :D
