In a great video there must fit the music to the anime. In the AMV must be a good Story, great Emotion and good choosen effects.
That is what i video makes great for me.

to me it has to be sync. without that there isn't much of video there. the problem is that sync is much more of an artform than it is a calculation. sync is kind of like magic either you have it or you don't
If you want a series to be longer just write fanfiction!(but don't make anyone read it)

I generally go for how "enjoyable" a video is.. you can fill a video with amazing effects, sync, etc but if I don't enjoy watching it then I won't like it and it'll go straight in the bin.

That said, there are some videos I don't even bother watching fully because even after half a minute or so I know it's time to turn off. I guess I'm just picky or impatient. >_>

That's impatient because I'm picky but I have the courtesy to sit through a video unless it's complete crap, if it seems to have potential somewhere I'll watch it, and if it's a mep I'm just not enjoying I'll skip forward and if all the segments are basically letdowns, then I turn it off. I would say I've seen videos that seem like they are going to suck at first but later the video gets good so that's another reason I don't usually shut an amv off right away.

I survive watching entire MEPs somehow even if I don't like them, so I'm guessing it's just shorter videos I have problems with.. I do try to watch videos the entire way through, but it's just that some of them don't "tickle my fancy", so to speak.

Generally the videos I end up shutting off are ones where they're made up of pretty much endless, unedited clips, so that might be a reason too
