Yep, I've bought cds after hearing a song in an amv which I liked or intrigued me, and hoped that the group performed other songs just as interesting. As for anime, I generally purchase series after catching them at conventions or if friends suggest a series. A few years back I saw a One Piece amv and thought, that's a trippy series, I wonder where I could get it? But it wasn't until I saw an episode at a convention that I decided to get the series for myself.SQ wrote:Have any of you bought anime or music simply because you saw it in an AMV?

Sure.
That's why I always said that a-m-v.org HELPS Music Companies (Along with Anime's), instead of 'steal' possible buyers.
I hope that most of music companies have understood it that way too. This would explain their let-them-be attitude towards the org (except the incident with evanescence's label).

Most of my Anime and music selection decisions of what I buy are made from AMVs! When you sort the archive, run AMV rooms and contests you get to listen to a lot of music and see different Anime!
I say AMVs are trailers that sell the products (even the comedy/parodys get you hooked into watching the anime)... What a steel for companies; free advertising that works and a lot better then the add trailers they make for a ton of money...
