Most of my friends know that I do such things. In my closer area only my best friend edits amvs. It´s often the same with my friends:
"Hey what about going out tonight?"
"Sorry there is a deadline that I have to reach."
"Aha... Your videos again?"

They know that I edit, but they´re not that much interessted into it. When I showed them some of my stuff they thought it´s cool, but yeah they´re not in anime. Well one is in anime, but not really into amvs. He likes to watch animes from time to time and borrows some of my dvds, but that´s pretty much it.
My friends show more interest when it´s winter here and when it´s Hot Coffee time. They often ask when it´s Hot Coffee again and if I´ll gonna make something too. I guess they´re a bit facinated of the strange and sick curiosity called hentai :P
Maybe I just have to show them some stuff that´s with more theire taste of music like Warheart´s Remains Of Oblivion.
Hey at least they respect it ^^

My parents know that I edit a lot. They respect it, but they´re just not into this stuff. Well that gives me more privacy :P
You can find me on YT under "Bauzi514". Subscribe to never miss my AMV releases. :amv:

Yeah, what he said.
That sucks.
My oldest son (the one who criticizes my music choices) edits as well, but to death metal....and although I don't really like the music all that much, I'm pretty stoked when he aims me to check out what he's been working on. He'll also call me just to say 'hey, go check out this song, I think you could do something with it'.

Nobody I know outside the community is into amvs. Or anime. They've maybe had a taste of it, but don't really get into it at all.

In that case, my family has always been supportive of my angry monkey virus.

My family is supportive, though largely uninterested. My friends are the same way. Which is fine by me; I'd rather show my crappy videos to a bunch of people over the Internet or at cons, where they can be ignored and forgotten, instead of in a more personal setting, where people who are uninterested in anime and my taste in music have to fake like they enjoyed it.

My parents have never seen any of my videos, I picked up the hobby after moving away from them. Friends, well, non-AMV friends, only really cared about the videos if they were funny, a parody of something they already knew. I just stopped showing them the videos. In 2005 I edited like, 20 videos, and my roommates and boyfriend never say any of them. Kinda sucks to be all excited about something, show it to someone and they just kinda shrug at you. AMV friends are much better. :ying:
