Newbies: How to make your first AMV

Just read your guide... I'm curious. Why shouldn't I use *.wmv extensions for my AMVs? Is there a particular reason? Because my first AMV wasn't too bd, and it used that extension...

Because, even if the quality is great, people tend to avoid downloading .WMVs because they've traditionally been associated with low quality and small filesizes, probably due to the fact that so many people make videos in Windows Movie Maker seemingly without knowing <a href="/guides/avtechbeta/wmm2export/">how to get a decent-quality version out of it</a>.

I suspect the association also has something to do with WMV's being commonly used for streaming video, which also generally means low quality and small filesize.

Argh, forgot to mention that .WMVs can also be a pain to play back on non-Windows platforms, so compatibility also suffers.

I have been making AMV's for like 3 years and I think I'm pretty good compared to most of the stuff I've seen. But here is my problem. I want to put it online in it's own little site so I can eneter it in a contest or two, but I have no idea how to work html or any of that other stuff.
Is there a place where I can just upload the amv, and have some words that talk about it without having to use all that special mumbo jumbo................If not, How about some step by step directions, if it's not too much trouble...remember I have no idea what I'm doing!
