That would be awesome Vlad!Vlad G Pohnert wrote:that really is a shame... He had a awesome time at Sakura-Con In April on the AMV creator's panel... He supported my contests too. I think this upcoming Sakura-Con I'll dedicate a small block to him and play all his video greats as a tribute.

Huh. And he was younger than I am. That's just depressing. I knew of him more than I knew him, but still sad news.

I'll add it to the current block lineup..
I think it's only fitting since he did contribute to the contest for many years there too. I was thinking about also adding in a few short (30 seconds or so) memories blurbs of those that knew him if people don't mind recording themselves on video saying them.

That's a great idea. I was trying to find some pictures of him from SakuraCon this year but I didn't take many.
I also hope that his family has the opportunity to see this thread.

That is an awesome idea vlad. I too decided to add a memorial bock of programming at this years Youmacon because of the support he gave us by entering when we were first starting out. My staff were all in agreement about the idea as well. It's the least I could do.

Re: Justin Rollins of Shining Fingers Studio passed away
Justin Rollins aka J-roll and "Roll the Stampede" was one of the closest friends I've had for over 20 years. Justin was like a brother to me and I'll never forget the day I met him at a comic book convention. I never would have guessed that he would introduce me to another convention, A-kon, and guide me into the world of AMV's.
I still can't believe that J-roll is gone. Maybe because he left so many things for us to enjoy. Memories, pictures, and even including himself and SFS in his most recent AMVS.
For those of you who knew Roll, he was the same guy to everyone. Loving, fun and dependable. He put as much time into his hobby of video making as he did in everything in life. He did everything to the fullest and with all his heart. Thanks for all the kind words and you better believe I plan on a tribute video to Roll's memory.
I would love to hear your memories of Roll and if you have any pics of hanging out with him, please email them to me. I'm making a tribute for his memorial which as I write this will be on Monday, about 5 days away. Send them to shinobisam@gmail.com
R.I.P. Roll the Stampede, J-Roll, Justin Rollins. I love you man. You're not gone. You just went ahead. We still have that MJ video to finish.
