Someone had included Alucard from Hellsing as a great villian- despite his vampiric existence, he's actually one of the heroes of the show, for God's sake!!!
Great villians- Knives from Trigun- really twisted deep down if you understand the basis of his hate for humanity and his goals, Incognito from Hellsing (pure evil really, except we don't learn who his human masters are), Albedo from Xenosaga Ep.1 is a great villian with very sick and twisted behavior.
I personally think the best villians are those who aren't pure evil. The ones who do horrible things in a show and torture the heroes but then you learn what they're real motivation is and it is something that you can understand and perhaps identify with, those are the most interesting. For example, Gendo Ikari from Neon Genesis Evangelion could be considered as a villian, but if you watch the show and movie in entirity and try to see his motivations and the goals he was trying to accomplish and why, then he is quite interesting. He could be portrayed as a very evil villian or in a good role if done right. Characters like that are most intriguing. Another example is Isshiki from RahXephon- he's definitely got his own agenda and does things which jeopardize or contradict other characters often, but he has a very human side to him.[/quote]

Bad guys are only as bad as the good guys they're up against are good. And for heaven's sake, D was not a bad guy, nor was Meier . . . so to speak. Carmilla's the one who was the REAL "evil" in VHD:Bloodlust! Wasn't there some kind of amoeba or something that was evil... AH the lobster goo that attacked everyone on The Bebop!! What's more insanely evil than lobster gone bad? Not much.

Cell was pretty damn evil, but his most evil actions came before he absorbed the Androids. I don't really think any villain out there can match what he did in terms of evilness. I mean he killed hundreds and thousands of people just so he could absorb their energy and become stronger.Vega Sailor wrote:Otohiko Posted: Thu May 08, 2003 9:47 am Post subject:

Dilandau. Hands down. Never seen anyone approach him, but I wonder if you can capture that sort of evil in an AMV... really would need to think of music for this one.

Everybody thinks Dilandau is a villian, but he's not. He's a tormented little boy, who's been abused, and driven insane by all of the chemicals injected into his body and torturous experiments. Poor kid.
If you want a good anime villian, how about Perfect Cell from DBZ
And why did he want to become stronger? He didn't even really have a reason to become stronger, he had already been the strongest person in his own time before traveling to the past. He couldn't even really explain it himself, he just pretty much had an uncontrollable urge to become strong as possible. At least most other anime villains actually have some reason or plot behind what they're doing. Cell was just plain evil.
