I don't really care about anyone's stars but mine. Knowing a star count shouldn't mean anything, because for almost every video I know of there have been high ones and low ones, you should see for yourself first rather than just relying on star counts if you want to watch something.

then perhaps more people should donate...

actually i like comparing stars, but its for my own ammusement... most of the amvs i look at dont have any stars anyways... so theres usually "no telling" from the star system anyways... but i still think its interesting to see other peoples stats...

I usually finish an amv in a week or two but the time you spend on amv also shows in how much you tried on the video if you made a video in a half hour you oviously didnt try on it

star ratios are only important if you make videos for all the fame, money and women that usually come with being a good AMV maker.

Personally, I make the videos just because I like the process and to compete with one particular friend of mine. We bet on a song and see who makes it better. THAT's amusing, although the projects we run that are unrelated to each other tend to turn out better than the bets. (That sentence sucked, din't it?)

and just to stay on topic, I vehemently affirm that time does not matter; even if an AMV fell into a time loop and were ready before the anime in it were even broadcasted on TV, it wouldn't change my judgement of it (except that I wouldn't know what the hell that anime is, so I guess in that case the AMV would suck at least until the anime were broadcasted). Anyway, you get the picture.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

fixed.

....

but seriously, I don't think many people actually value a vids worth solely on the time it takes to make it. People hoever may use it as a medium to weed out the crappy ones, based on if the time is rediculously low for the aim of the video. But usually this is also works in tangium with other things, like bad english and numbers apearing randomly inside words that screams Noob.

I usually list the time in hours of actuall editing for those that are curious, and to show that I didn't just slap it togehter quickly. However, even if I spent 80 hours making crap, it doesn't change the fact that its crap. It just so happens that most videos that are very well edited and very well put togehter took a long time to make.

Please someone, just post a link to a video that is extreamly well edited, and flows very well with no major errors in it, that was made in a few hours. I doupt anyone will be able to. (unless its less than a minute long...) But if you can, you will have proven your point that time doesn't matter, rather than just giving us arguments with no evidence.

O.o i dont want women with my amvs... my husband is enough hawtness for me O.o.. and as for the "fame" >.< I kinda wish some of the fangirls wouldnt fangirl so much...

cause once they see i will reply to them, they then proceed to tell me all their personal problems O.o (I dont know how many times this has happened to me >.<)

I just like comparing stars for the ammusement of it all... i dont get devostated if my stars arent all 5s cause i know im never going to make a video that got all 5s...

I just like ammusing myself with numbers, instead of stressing on them like "some people" do O.o
~~~~~~~~~~~
but when it comes to the general public, they dont care the ammount of time taken, but how well a video is executed...
if people are telling someone to take more time on their amvs, perhaps their editing/ideas arent as solid as they would like to think
mow I know (and even you know) I am one to spend MONTHS on an amv, but even this is just too easy. Made in just a few hours (you can tell by the quality ;p), but never had a problem with sense or synch ;p... of coarse, it is the good ole combination of beutifull song to beautifull anime. Long fades and extrenuous motions (lensflares and other prettys) gets you an INSTANT WIN there ;p. Seriously, these things make less sense than LBZ videos -_-. But, Idunno... you asked for it -_-.
other than that kind of vid I also seriously doubt there are any. And even so, I didn't exactly go in without a plan (but I bet I could've... those things ar too easy)
Best 10 hours I've ever invested
Yea that's right, I whored myself.
Personally I don't even care how long something took. If the video sucks or is enjoyable is everything to me. I may sometimes ask how an effect was created and how long it took to implement, but that's a different issue, independent of the suckage of a video.
There's a real difference between respecting the time and effort invested in the creation of a video and actually liking it. I would expect that originality scores would be low (aka "meh") on a random techno video overflowing with effects and zero association between the anime/song.
Due to how video creation has evolved there are many videos that people don't appreciate in the slightest, though for their time they are fairly impressive. I personally can't imagine VHS editing. Unfortunately (or fortunately...) as I pointed out the subject is very much black and white, as it should be. The eye of the beholder dictates the opinion. If the video sucks, knowing that the creator had cancer; spent 4 years of their life on it; lost their parents to a car wreck; edited on beta max; has no arms or legs; has to walk to school uphill 15 lightyears in the snow; is blind; and is deaf doesn't make it any better.
I think people knowing the time spent on your video before watching it effects the way they watch it, that's why most of the time that's the thing I like to keep private. :wink:
