If youtube shuts down, wouldn't the resulting vacuum in digital space suck in all of the internet?

But they will never shut down. If sites like Suprnova and Astalavista exist to this very day... HOSATCHEL is harmless compared to those two.

Why do we have to treat Hosatchel like it's Lord Voldermort, anyways?

You're comparing sites that were established with the purpose of illegally providing copyrighted material with youtube, which was not. They're not the same, and their user base is on the complete other end of the tech-savy spectrum.

Why is there even a discussion here about "will hosatchel go down"? Hosatchel is not going anywhere, and if someone wanted to sue them, it already would have happened, its not like its some underground site that no one knows about. Anyways, there is not much legal ground that anyone could sue them on, considering precedents that have been set.

If you don't like hosatchel for whatever reason, then just dont use the site. Who cares?!

This thread is a waste of space :|

Purpouse is purpouse, but they're put to the same use.

Most of them are, outside the help forums. A veteran like yourself should be used to it by now... one way or another, speculating doesn't hurt anyone... can't we dream of a better world?

Intent is quite important when it comes to legal procedings of any kind. That's why there's a difference between first degree murder, manslaughter, and neglegent homicide.

Are you a lawyer, or do you just read a lot of John Grisham?

But that aside, if they get a legal order to remove and prohibit copyright-infringing (is that spelled right?) material, they'd still lose a lot of public.

No on both accounts; however, legal studies are an interest of mine. My lawer is actually impressed with my degree of knowledge. :D

I'm intending to do just that as soon as I find the email of the company, but I've searched their site so far without sucess. I did tell the person who uploaded it that it is in fact licensed simply because they might not have known. I'll give them a small grace period before reporting them, though. It's easy enough to not realize a license these days.

In all honesty, liscenses don't matter. It's illegal either way.
